Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Okay, my second day and definitely better. I got 174 yesterday.

How do you all start?
Do you have a specific word you start off with?
If you have a cold word with a similarity of say 20.90 would you build on that or do you just keep adding random words?

Trapped in an endless spiral of synonyms again!

I'm on 945. I always get close and then my brain stops. I'm trying synonyms but no luck so far.

I start with fairly generic words like space or good or set, see whether a theme develops and follow it.

Hmm I've got 905 quite quickly but reading how few guesses it's taken you all I'm almost afraid to carry on in case I am proved very dense 😂

My first guess had a similarity of 16.47 and I tried building from that, but it was the wrong tack. I will mix it up tomorrow.

How do you all start? Do you have a specific word you start off with? If you have a cold word with a similarity of say 20.90 would you build on that or do you just keep adding random words?

I don’t have a specific word, just something random. But yes, if I put “hot” and it had a score of 20 I would put volcano, and if it went up I might put lava and if it went down I might put sexy, or something along those lines. Don’t listen to me though, I’m getting worse at it.

I think I start to specific. I tend to look around the room. So for example I am on the bus at the moment, so I have tried 'stone' 'bag' etc Good to know for tomorrow to be more general.

When I started todays, my daughter was having a tantrum, so words were 'grouchy' 'help' 😂
