Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I'm not yet in thr Green but my highest is a common misspelling. The correct spelling isn't recognised as a word

What other numbers have you got? *@EdwinsActsOfKindness* so hopefully I can think of a better clue than for 975

956, 903, 819 are my top greens

I solved Semantle #39 in 135 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -5.21. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #78. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 58.75 (998/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Took me over 50 guesses to find a green word. Got there in the end though.

Much better today phew!

I thought 935 was a typo as well, but the word it is a typo for is also in there at 951, so who knows.

A cartographer might use the word 935, though I can't see how it links with the target word.

First thing I did when I got it was scroll to 325! I mean, I could see that connection maybe but you could also make the same connection with a billion other words too 😀

I think 433 is a typo, and 935 is a typo for 951, the latter makes sense.

Can't get any further than 941, 946, 976

Those things ought to make the solution easier, though that's not always the case.

I got it in 106 but really want to comment on a word which is linked to the actual word but wasn't green. Totally bizarre. I will wait til tomorrow!!

Think about the lowest two of those together
