Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Those are in the right ballpark I think, though not exactly synonyms. Think a bit wider maybe

Oh goodness - this is my first time (thank you for the threads). I'm stuck at 952 and I am fried. DH no help - he didn't know what 952 meant. This is painfully compelling.
I think that's more of a word you could use in a sentence with the target. And if you could think of an opposite then that might also work with the target.

Ahhh - finally! I'm not sure if I want to make a habit of it. It really hurt my brain!

I solved Semantle #38 in 174 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.83. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #33. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 29.92 (853/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Chuckling at 905, what actually was the centre parcs reference?? I did ok with a few what-i-thought-were related to this and got some greens haha

Well todays absolutely sucked but I am reassured that most seem to have found it equally hard! So many of the top 1000 are stupid. I'd have never got today without hints I'm sure

Thought I’d take a sneak peek at the next one and I can only say it’s a blessed relief after today!

I solved Semantle #39 in 31 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 21.36. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #5. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 35.26 (883/1000).
