Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I solved Semantle #43 in 130 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.08. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #78. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 9.10. semantle.novalis.org/

Got word 910 on my 78th guess and still took another 50 guesses to find the word. I stumbled on it by chance as I never found a word higher than 910 before solving it. A bit harder than the last couple of days for me.

Nope not getting higher than 972. I'll try again in the morning.
I hate this game.

I'm also stuck at 972 Headache.

Just finished work and I really shouldn’t be playing word games… 2am isn’t the time to get frustrated with Semantle

972 is really not connected to the answer. It’s a bit of an outlier compared to the words surrounding it.

I'm at 993 and running out of synonyms. Am I on the right lines, is it a synonym or a following/preceding word?

I solved Semantle #43 in 99 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 5.20. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #14. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 36.94 (862/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I would definitely not 993 to 1000, especially these days!

Not exactly a synonym but something that might occur together.

Sometimes it’s less fun getting it quickly because you don’t get to stew on it half the day.

Random guess and it was the word. O only had 352 and 525 in the greens.

pfff... I thought I started on this too early in morning.

I was lucky my first green word (guess #13) is rank 993... but I have yet to improve on that (now done 31 guesses). I'm trying to sit on my hands & neither google synonyms nor start typing in lots of random maybes. See if I can think of something else...

Oh, got it! I can sort of see the overall connection to 972, though I only got one more green between that and the answer. Off to check the list now to see what other random words they’ve thrown in there.

I'm getting better at this, purely because of this thread sharing ideas on how to work them out and tips over the days.

No, 994 is an anomaly. Perhaps in an extreme form of 1000 this might happen, but it's unusual.

Not really IMO, do you have any other greens?

My other greens in the 900s are 938, 925,915
