Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

By sheer fluke I got it in 15 today, without even looking at this thread! Almost a bit disappointed

I solved Semantle #42 in 90 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 12.82. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #4. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 29.32. semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #42 in 136 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 5.12. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #75. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 57.00 (988/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Even tried the Friends word. Nothing.

First time I’ve ever got it with no cheating whatsoever, not even looking at this thread and it feels gooooood, even though it took me a while!

I solved Semantle #42 in 55 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 6.13. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #41. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 71.87 (999/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

997 and 998 are more helpful than 999, I think. Think of more things like those, that is still 999!

Think of a thing that’s like 997 and 998 but is still 999 I should say @MadisonAvenue @SouperNoodle

@JaneJeffer how helpful of a clue do you want? I can do you something very helpful that’s too much for this thread but can’t think of anything that gives it away less!

(I also do Wordle and Quordle , and usually start with same few words).

Nothing maths related though, as I am as thick as school custard when it comes to numbers.
