Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I’ve lost my voice so picked up my phone to text DH rather than shouting the word in question and Semantle was open so that’s how that happened!

I solved Semantle #42 in 64 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 12.35. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #27. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 43.51 (873/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I'm stuck on 982 and 943 and keep getting lower with every guess 😩

Got there in 20 and now can't get over the finish line.

Is 999 a red herring in some way? Or am I missing something obvious?
