Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

The first part just means it's an abbreviation.

It's taken me 117 tries to even get on green today but was fairly easy once I got there, after realising one of the words I'd guessed had more than one meaning 🤦‍♀️

I solved Semantle #40 in 142 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.37. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #117. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 31.85 (912/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

That link doesn't work, I don't think.

Wrt yesterday's, all my almost-greens were Italian food items so bologna would have further convinced me that I was on the right track. So pleased I didn't find it!

My current highest is 961. Feel as though I'm almost there but suspect it'll take me a while yet.

Please can someone pm me a clue. Been stuck on 993 for ages.

I solved Semantle #40 in 65 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 2.64. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #44. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 45.08 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

998 and I feel like I’ve run out of words

I’ve got loads of very low greens which I think is throwing me off more than anything.

Knowing how unrelated the low greens usually are it might be more helpful not to have a good at all!

I was kind of on the right lines but also probably not going to get it as I was at a slight tangent
