I have a free afternoon and a choice of:

Belfast
Cyrano
The Batman
The Dog
Ali & Ava

I have already seen Death on the Nile and don't want to see Marry Me

Any recommendations please?

thanks

I really enjoyed Belfast, can’t comment on the others as I haven’t seen them

Squeakerfoot · 06/03/2022 17:35

Ali & Ava is beautiful

EwwSprouts · 06/03/2022 17:37

My parents walked out of Cyrano they thought it was so bad - not their usual behaviour.

Yes Cyrano seems to have mixed reviews - the trailer looked good though.

Belfast is excellent.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/03/2022 17:42

Is there anything starring Ryan Reynolds ( 'cos you know he's in bloody everything Grin )

I'd go with Belfast from the list ( I haven;t seen any of them )

girlmom21 · 06/03/2022 17:44

Belfast is lovely. I watched it a couple of weeks ago.

Marry Me is actually better than I expected. I watched it at the baby cinema showing - not necessarily a film I'd have chosen to watch otherwise!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 06/03/2022 17:50

I really liked Dog! Not a huge Channing fan but found it a bit moving!

Flareonsbox · 06/03/2022 17:53

I went to see The Batman last night and I would recommend watching three hours of paint drying before watching it.

I'm never been so bored during a film in my life. And I paid to see it in Imax. Angry

ApolloandDaphne · 06/03/2022 17:54

Belfast is wonderful. We saw it last night.

kitcat15 · 06/03/2022 17:55

We saw the duke yesterday... loved it

Mindymomo · 06/03/2022 17:55

Belfast is very good, we are seeing The Duke tomorrow, I’d like to watch The Dog but it’s not showing at our cinema despite them showing trailer for it.

Madre123 · 06/03/2022 17:56

Cyrano was ok.....would be better to see at the theatre though I think.....good story......Belfast was good but very sad...saw the Batman yesterday and it was quite simply FANTASTIC

drumandthebass · 06/03/2022 18:04

My son has gone to see The Batman today for the second time in two days. He said it's brilliant

PilatesPeach · 06/03/2022 18:11

oooh I don't want sad - I didn't know Belfast was sad

NotYourOscarSpeech · 06/03/2022 18:14

I went to see the Batman yesterday. It’s long and very dark, it’s closer to a kind of police procedural/thriller (aspects of it reminded me a lot of Seven mixed with the Christopher Nolan Batman films). Not seen any of the others. The Duke was enjoyable enough, you could see it twice in the time you see Batman!

BookShop · 06/03/2022 18:18

Cyrano was garbage.
Belfast was great.
Dog was fun but frippery.

Mumsnut · 06/03/2022 18:18

The Duke or Belfast. Have seen both

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/03/2022 18:19

Belfast deffo- it’s not that sad, it’s well balanced with joy too.

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/03/2022 18:24

I disagree with @Flareonsbox as we thought The Batman was amazing. It's dark and sinister and brilliant. Very film noir and I imagine those that like films with loads of CGI and effects will be disappointed. What people have forgotten is that this is the very start of Batman, he isn't the Batman of earlier films.

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/03/2022 18:24

But it would be a dull world if we all liked the same things!

ChiselandBits · 06/03/2022 18:27

I absolutely loved Cyrano but you have to buy into it and suspend disbelief. Belfast has had brilliant reviews - I'd love to see that if I got the chance.

girlmom21 · 06/03/2022 18:27

@PilatesPeach

oooh I don't want sad - I didn't know Belfast was sad
It's a beautiful sad - with lots of happiness and fun too.
Dee03 · 06/03/2022 18:28

The Batman was brillliant...but I love a superhero movie.
On Tuesday I'm going to see Marry Me...a different vibe totally but I love the cinema so I'm happy to watch most things Wink

Savvysix1984 · 06/03/2022 19:07

Belfast, but also want to see Batman.
