What are Boris & Liz Truss doing 😩

Worried they are drawing Russia on top of us. Of course we can't stand back, we need action but other countries are getting their point accross in a much more diplomatic way... Think Boris is using the war to impersonate Churchill & the Russians aren't liking it...

I think it's probably safer if they keep their mouths shut and lie low.

Feelingthepinch22 · 06/03/2022 09:03

I totally agree... It would be very easy to use us as a scapegoat... They keep calling out the UK for comments made by the two stooges😩

That’s what got us here !
Quartz2208 · 06/03/2022 09:05

But if Russia does do something that is definitely akin to a declaration of war on a NATO country - and the rest would have to follow

And what good would everyone keeping their mouths shut and lying low do - tell Putin that basically its fine and he can continue?

Imabouttoexplode · 06/03/2022 09:07

Whatever it is he's doing, I don't agree with his approach in the slightest. It all feels unnecessarily inflammatory.

Yes I’m not sure why everyone has to say nothing

Biden also has a statement on increasing sanctions and assistance

Ifailed · 06/03/2022 09:12

to answer the title, having an affair?

Quartz2208 · 06/03/2022 09:13

Yes exactly - the problem here is that doing nothing simply tells Putin ok (and I agree with takeaflight 8 years of doing nothing and telling him its ok is exactly what got us here and could potentially go further.

It at the point where this cannot be ignored and I think that is recognised.

On the other side it is about what can be done that doesnt push it to the point where he thinks it is a war. And to be fair to Boris Johnson I think he is aware of that

Russia is also aware of what would cross that line as well and the consequences of it

Mumoblue · 06/03/2022 09:16

To be honest I think they think a war would be a good distraction from the fact that they couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery. But maybe I’m too cynical.

But it does feel very “Don’t look at us! Look over there!”

Waxonwaxoff0 · 06/03/2022 09:18

Can't stand Boris and Liz but I also can't stand cowardice. I'd rather die defending freedom than roll over and allow a bully to have his way. Putin is a bully.

bangaverage · 06/03/2022 09:25

Each other, knowing him.

Absolutely this.

I agree but they're actually not doing anything constructive... It's all bluster, they're poking the bear... If they wanted to make a difference they could make the Ukrainian refugees path much easier & let them in our country for safety... But no.. Poking & antagonising the bear is much more productive 🙄 The EU countries are all taking thousands upon thousands in, are helping ukraine with humanitarian aid & weaponry & are using diplomatic language... We need to step up & do more... Actions speak louder than words Boris & Liz.. By the way his 6 point plan is actually just a load of waffle highlighting nothimg...

I think Russia have a perception of disunity between us and the rest of the EU. They are trying "divide and conquer".

Zonder · 06/03/2022 09:44

Johnson is calling world leaders to his 6 step plan to end the war, according to radio 4. And looking more statesmanlike according to one of the tabloids.

I am sure that he has no new plan to lead the world with - is he trying to lead with something the rest of the world are already doing or is he just making it up?

fungh · 06/03/2022 09:44

So you disagree with the sanctions?

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/03/2022 09:45

Saying nothing is not the same as doing nothing.

Just let the grownups address the doing part.

fungh · 06/03/2022 09:45

they're poking the bear.

by condemning it?

fungh · 06/03/2022 09:47

Also I would stop reading the Daily Mail, they love a bit of fear mongering

Upyouranty · 06/03/2022 09:49

I’m glad Boris is standing up. Putin is threatening us, he’s attempting to bully us into silence.

Since when did we become a country that ‘keeps our head down and keeps quiet’ while others around us are invaded?

Putin will blame us, he’ll blame anyone he can. The only person responsible is Putin. We should all be supporting action to support Ukrainian.

MyGiddyAunt1 · 06/03/2022 09:53

Boris has managed to get away with everything so far so why not a war? If it goes well he becomes another ‘Churchill’ which he so wants! If not the loss is for the civilians and not him and his sycophants

LizDoingTheCanCan · 06/03/2022 09:54

I’m glad Boris is standing up.

But he's not, is he? He'll be the first in the bunker.

Zonder · 06/03/2022 09:55

I've just found the 6 point plan. He's a bit late to the party - all 6 points are already happening.

"In his six-point plan to maintain pressure on Mr Putin, the prime minister said:
-World leaders should mobilise an "international humanitarian coalition" for Ukraine
-They should also support Ukraine "in its efforts to provide for its own self-defence"
-Economic pressure on Russia should be ratcheted up
-The international community must resist Russia's "creeping normalisation" of its actions in Ukraine
-Diplomatic resolutions to the war must be pursued, but only with the full participation of Ukraine's legitimate government
-There should be a "rapid campaign to strengthen security and resilience" among Nato countries"

fungh · 06/03/2022 09:55

Since when did we become a country that ‘keeps our head down and keeps quiet’ while others around us are invaded?

Plus who will you ask for help when we are on the receiving end.

well to be fair, they probably could organise a piss up. Theyd just choose to do it during lockdown
