Companies with Russian links to boycott

Tulipomania · 05/03/2022 13:13

I haven't seen another thread on this.

Can we compile a list of companies to boycott who are refusing to withdraw business from Russia?

I'll take a start with Coca-Cola, and Costa Coffee, which is owned by Coke.

I am also boycotting:
PepsiCo (also includes Tropicana, Walkers, Quaker Oats)
McDonalds

Use the search facility, there are already numerous threads on this.

BirdOnTheWire · 05/03/2022 13:32

I came on the look for a thread on this.

Big one is TUI.

Some useful info here

SerendipityJane · 05/03/2022 13:47

The Conservative Party

Tulipomania · 05/03/2022 13:52

Already boycott the Tories!

BookkeeperBobby · 05/03/2022 14:06

It's not just the Tories! Labour leader Starmer is still refusing to change his name from the Russian spelling Kier to Ukrainian spelling Kyir despite growing international pressure. 😱

Tulipomania · 05/03/2022 14:44

Nice try BookkeeperBobby!

well to be honest i agree with him.
CherieBabySpliffUp · 05/03/2022 14:48

My local Asda has started taking Unilever products off of the shelves.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 05/03/2022 14:51

Putin has now said he likens the sanctions against Russia as a declaration of war

so we are literally poking a bear doing this

RockaLock · 05/03/2022 14:55

Shell bought Russian oil this week, because it was a bargain low price Hmm

Tulipomania · 05/03/2022 14:55

Well of course he is saying that. He doesn't want sanctions.

He also claimed for many months that Russia had no intention of invading Ukraine and troops were just massed by the border 'on exercises'.

@CherieBabySpliffUp

My local Asda has started taking Unilever products off of the shelves.
Why, given that the products have already been purchased? What are they going go do with them? Send them to landfill and waste them? Also do they realise how many brands Unilever owns? That's going to leave massive gaps on the shelves.

What's the issue with Unilever? I've always thought they were quite ethical.

Lookingforphev · 05/03/2022 15:01

A local asda isn't allowed to make the decision to remove things from their shelves, because they want.

Either Asda has made that decision, in which case all Asda's will be doing it (can't see that happening without a big media announcement) or your local asda just has a stock problem.

I worked for Asda head office. All storrs are heavily monitored and decisions to stock mainstream products isn't made in store.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 05/03/2022 15:24

whats the unilever connection with Russia?

misscockerspaniel · 05/03/2022 15:58

Asda is removing anything that is made in Russia.

Unilever is donating 5m Euros of food, personal goods etc to "those impacted by the war", to be distributed by NGOs.

Lubeyboobyalt · 05/03/2022 16:03

Patreon is still hosting Russian propaganda groups (russians with attitude is one of them)

After a week of reporting and reporting the pages and nothing been done I'm trying to get the ceo's attention with this tweet that also tags a friend of his who has more chance of seeing it and giving him a nudge

Please consider retweeting (and/or tweeting yourself) to help it get in front of their eyes - I'm sure the ceo will do something long as he is aware

Who did you boycott when the US and UK were invading Iraq?

wrong thread...this one is about Ukraine
AlternativePerspective · 05/03/2022 16:19

wrong thread...this one is about Ukraine nope. If people are boycotting products out of genuine solidarity with Ukraine, then it surely stands to reason that there were mass boycotts of US and UK companies during the Iraq war. And if not, why not? Other than that these boycotts are purely virtue signalling.

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 16:21

Unilever is an Anglo Dutch company. I'm not seeing the logic?

Hindsight has no place here
