I didn't even know that was possible.

Not me, the woman at the front of the queue when I joined. It appeared to be just all random bits rather than furniture or anything else expensive. Her trolley was piled high when she left.

I only went in for the posh tonic water they have for 19 p a bottle and managed to get away with £15 worth of different tonics, unusual crisps, proper Spanish allioli and some shower gels but hats off to her that was another level.

I wonder if she went in for that much 😂

My husband calls it The Fifty Quid Shop

Fernandina · 05/03/2022 11:09

Blimey, she must have needed a lorry to get home.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 05/03/2022 11:13

Hmmm fancy a visit now

We have a subsidised canteen at work, they have huge breakfasts. Even with a laden down plate of food I have only ever managed to spend about €1.80. One day my friend spent €14 on the breakfast there, I still can’t figure out how he did it. He had a terrible hangover though but he must have gotten totally carried away.

I was behind a woman in NEXT one day and she spent €960 on baby clothes. Her sister just had a baby and all the clothes were tiny, I think she nearly fainted at the checkout.

I did nearly faint at a checkout once, when Primark opened up after the lockdowns. I was carrying so much that one of the staff had to come over and help me in the queue, I was just about to faint.

People are mad aren’t they!!! Grin

I'm on annual leave this week and the highlight is going to be a trip to Home Bargains! And Aldi!
As I can't drive at the moment due to a medical condition, I'll be restricted to how much I can carry home on the bus!

I used to say that about Target in the USA. Costs you $40 to get out of there!

About 10 years ago we once managed to spend over £100 on food (not the mystery aisle) in Lidl. We did ask if we got a prize because those were the days it was cheap!

When we got our first flat we spent €3.5k in IKEA. We had three trolleys plus stuff in the store. We got it delivered.

The cheap shops can add up sometimes!

TheWeeDonkey · 05/03/2022 11:21

I love Home Bargains, go in for a bottle of Zoflora, come out with a trolley full. Every time. I'm the same with B&M

Cuck00soup · 05/03/2022 11:22

That's extreme. Have to be honest I only let myself go round with a basket now after a trip with DD for a couple of things for uni ended up at £80 +. I can't even remember how.

ParkheadParadise · 05/03/2022 11:23

I've got a friend who can easily spend that in home bargain every month.
I once went in there with my sister for a look about
In the second aisle, I went back for a basket
In the forth aisle we swapped the basket for a trolley
By the time we got to the checkout, we both had a trolley.
My local home bargains is next door to B&M I always go in both and spend a fortune.🙈

Bubbles1st · 05/03/2022 11:27

Home bargains? Must be more exciting than ours. B and M I wouldn't have even replied 🤣

NeverAgainSam · 05/03/2022 11:44

Decathlon. Went to have a look and maybe buy some running socks. £160 later......

Papergirl1968 · 05/03/2022 11:47

Oh yes, B&M. Thanks for reminding me I meant to go there too. Grin

OldTinHat · 05/03/2022 11:47

B&M is my corner shop. Honestly, it's the closest shop I can walk to.

I'll pop in for loo rolls or cheese or a bottle of wine several times a week and always, always end up with other crap I don't need!

bellac11 · 05/03/2022 11:49

I love home bargains, I suppose she was filled up with household stuff and gardening or homeware stuff, it all adds up but I think its good value. its like the old woolies.

I know the feeling. I had to go back because I'd popped in when out for a walk but couldn't carry the tonic I wanted.

Today I came out with a bulging bag for life with a couple of things separate as they wouldn't fit in.

I spent £60 in there the other day and honestly I can't even tell you what I got 😂

BookkeeperBobby · 05/03/2022 11:56

Stuff just falls in your trolley there, I swear. I once bought so much I had to ring for a taxi to get it home. I only wanted some anti histamines.

Gingernaut · 05/03/2022 11:56

We've got an HB next to a Wilko's in our town centre high street.

In the out of town retail park we have a B&M, HB, an Aldi AND a TK MAXX

There should be laws against it.

MrsMop1964 · 05/03/2022 11:58

We don't have B&M or Home Bargains where I live. Probably a good thing for my bank account!

Figgygal · 05/03/2022 12:00

God i love home bargains
Go in for one thing and come out £40 down everytime

CurryLover56 · 05/03/2022 12:03

Not sure where my nearest Home Bargains is. Shuffles off to Google

Iamtired123 · 05/03/2022 12:03

Was she maybe buying items for a shop? Lots of people use home bargains as a cash & carry

pumpkinpie01 · 05/03/2022 12:05

@BookkeeperBobby that made me laugh !
