What does this emoji mean on MN ?

I keep seeing it. A beige or light brown square? I don't even have it on my phone emojis to use as an example.

I think it’s just where a user has typed another emoji and it isn’t compatible with the mn site - could be wrong

It isn't an MN emoji.
Is it for when someone posts an emoji from elsewhere which you don't have? When that happens for me I get an empty rectangle.
Unless it is this secret one? Archers

It probably means it's an emoji not supported on your OS for some reason. Can you do a screenshot?

I think some of the skintone ones show up like that, it's sometimes an incompatible one between Android/Apple or with MN as others say.

That means they’ve used an emoji which your system doesn’t have, so it can’t display it.

Are they posted by iPhone users? We are an Android household, and I use my (non Apple) laptop so I sometimes get empty boxes for emojis as well.

I'm on my phone and that is so small I can't even work out what it's supposed to be, let alone how to make it. Looks vaguely like a cow's head, but also a bit like the radiation symbol. But it seems to have a bar across the top like a pub sign. I am baffled. Can anyone explain please?

That literally doesn't help at all. It's not the Queen Vic, pretty sure it's not the Rover's Return, I don't think it's the Woolpack, and there ends my knowledge of famous fictional pubs.
