I keep seeing it. A beige or light brown square? I don't even have it on my phone emojis to use as an example.

Archers

Woohoo. Make mine a pint.

iklboo · 05/03/2022 12:11

@RichardMarxisinnocent - it's from The Archers radio soap.

YforWanky · 05/03/2022 12:12

A pint of Shires don't you mean?

Thank you! Was getting worried people were just going to give vague clues and not actually explain!

Skelligsfeathers · 05/03/2022 12:14

@Susu49

What do people use this one? Biscuit
It's from a q and a with Gordon brown when he repeatedly refused to say what his favourite biscuit was. It has come to mean " I am thinking things but i am NOT going to say a word. It is disdainful.
Susu49 · 05/03/2022 12:18

K I wouldn't have got that in a million years! Smile

Archers

Shires I assume ?
ComeOnSpringtime · 05/03/2022 12:30

It's any emoji that can be changed using different skintones.

On MN, if you don't use the default colour (yellow), it glitches so that it shows the emoji as well as the skintone colour you've chosen on a square.

FrappuccinoLight · 05/03/2022 12:30

I thought it was like the teacup symbol where you are basically showing that you have nothing to add except that you’re bookmarking your interest in the thread and waiting for more gossip to be shared and enjoyed. I think my teen daughter calls it waiting for the speaker to ‘spill the tea’ and share the juicy details. So dipping in a biscuit has become a move on from this…

FrappuccinoLight · 05/03/2022 12:32

And like a previous poster suggested, it’s not particularly supportive, more like you’re there to be entertained while you drink tea and dip your biscuit!

Will see what happens when I post.

@MaizeAmaze

Biscuit

This?

I was referring to this by the way (I think the beige square is where it hasn’t posted properly from your phone)
ComeOnSpringtime · 05/03/2022 12:35

Well, they posted properly this time. Sometimes, they won't and there would've been a different coloured square after each hand.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 05/03/2022 12:35

@ComeOnSpringtime I can see the yellow emoji and all the skin tones, with no squares, if that helps at all.

You are a genius. That makes sense.

Archers I think it's the pub from The Archers if memory serves.

ComeOnSpringtime · 05/03/2022 12:37

Yes I noticed.@TakeYourFinalPosition I think they glitch sometimes but not all the time. I know it's happened to me before but they posted properly this time.

curlymom · 05/03/2022 12:46

Is that a donut?

TheAbbotOfUnreason · 05/03/2022 12:47

I did think about saying “make mine a pint of Shires” Smile

No It is a negative emoji It is saying " i can't even..." Iyswim
iklboo · 05/03/2022 13:11

I think it stems from the time Gordon Brown wouldn't say which his favourite biscuit was on a MN chat. It came to mean sort of 'get over yourself' or 'stop being a prannock'

Shortpoet · 05/03/2022 13:14

For a long time I thought Biscuit was a nipple and the person posting it thought the PP was a tit.

More so if they posted two. BiscuitBiscuit

Notbluepeter · 05/03/2022 13:35

This whole time I thought Biscuit was a doughnut i.e. calling someone thick...now I feel like doughnut!

BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit is used if you want to refer to Eccentrica Gallumbits.

It renders correctly in the app on my iPad.
