Movement to get Russian Products taken off the shelves of supermarkets

There was a heartbreaking call to LBC yesterday from a Ukrainian and one of the things they said that the British public can do to help is put pressure on supermarkets in the UK to remove Russian products off of their shelves. Supermarkets in other countries in the EU are currently doing this. I have made contact with some supermarkets already but please if you are able to also do the same either by Twitter or phone as the more people that put pressure on this will help. It’s only a drop in the ocean but any small acts of help go along way.

Impeachment. hmm He's a dictator who murders people who speak out against him.

I’m not convinced that it is likely. It was tried with Yeltsin.

The Russians seem to like autocratic government.

@poshme

I have mixed feelings about this.

I have a friend who is married to a Russian man. He left Russia in 2001 to get away from Putin. He is horrified by what Russia are doing.
He likes to eat some Russian foods- should he be prevented from doing so?

DH is German If he was unable to access Bratwurst he would be ok

No, actually Putin is an autocrat, not a dictator. There is a difference. Dictators are when the head of a countries military takes over the civilian leadership role...prime minister, premiere, president , etc.
Putin was never in the military nor the head of Russia’s military. He is civilian leadership, but his leadership is autocratic, therefore he is an autocrat. It’s important to know this.

Has Co-op given a list of products they are dropping? How many units of these they sell.

I suspect they are doing it be arsed they think it makes them look good and doesn't really make much of a dent in profits.

@MistySkiesAfterRain

80% of sunflower oil comes from Russia. This type of ban is on the governments consideration list. But will drive prices up.
I'm not sure of your motive for making that up but it's complete bullshit.

Ukraine is the largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil.

@FatFredsFriedEgg I read it online so it obviously wasn't fact checked by who wrote it - possibly the BBC.

Notjustabrunette · 05/03/2022 12:14

I think he would be ok with going without Russian food if it put added pressure on Russia to end the war. Feels like a small sacrifice.

ClemFandangoo · 05/03/2022 12:52

So many shops are also now closing in Russia, Zara, IKEA etc. that even if the maniac takes Ukraine (he won’t) Russia are economically done for.

All that work with their bot farms on social media spreading misinformation about Brexit, trying to separate us from Europe, trying to weaken Britain and the U.S. all for nothing. Hes undone everything in a week 🤣

You know that you can fact check things yourself before posting them?

Do you seriously assume that all the things that you read online are fact checked before they are allowed to be posted?

Hi

NotTerfNorCis · 08/03/2022 21:49

I saw a tagline on RT the other day: 'West says no Russians are innocent in Russia-Ukraine crisis'.

Punishing Russians living in Britain by taking Russian foods from the shops will reinforce that.

Eek, the propaganda machine rolls on it seems. There are people in the West who probably believe we think this is true (just look at Twitter, it’s an absolute cesspit at the moment) so no idea how we expect Russians to not believe it.
