What have you given up for Lent?

I've given up chocolate but can't decide if I should do biscuits and cake too.

I'm going through a tough time so don't want to make it so hard I fail but don't want to end up eating a half hundred weight of biscuits!

OP posts:

Gas and electricity 🙈😂 and petrol and probably food…

Motherrunner1 · 02/03/2022 18:39

The will to live 😂

Being well (tested positive for Covid yesterday).

Answering the phone to self centered drama queens.

Processed food! Is tough. Have had to give up my latte, snacks of veggies, fruit and nuts.... phew!

EmmaCB1 · 02/03/2022 18:44

Oh sorry you’re having a hard time OP 💐. It sounds like a good idea not to be so restrictive that you’re miserable.

I’m giving up refined sugar, except tomorrow when I’ll enjoy a small slice of DS2s birthday cake.

CatNamedEaster · 02/03/2022 18:48

OP if it's a tough time at the moment why not twist it a little. Mine is going to be giving up putting myself last. I feel like taking a bit of time every day to do something positive will be better in the long run because not only will I be happy doing whatever it is, but being happier and doing more positive things always makes me want to be generally healthier.

Iliveonthexbox · 02/03/2022 18:49

I'm not Catholic and I think God has a lot more important things to worry about right now than whether or not I tuck into the jaffa cakes.

mycarisBananacustard · 02/03/2022 18:50

Nothing. Was going to give up cake but given the current situation I don’t want to go without nice things

PlanetNormal · 02/03/2022 18:52

Religion, same as every other year since 1985.

TerrifiedandWorried · 02/03/2022 18:53

Trying

Lovelydovey · 02/03/2022 18:54

Sugar - since if I cut out one sweet food group I replace it with another. Day 1 and struggling.

peboh · 02/03/2022 18:54

I've given up lent. After the last couple of years, I don't think I'm willing to part to with anything that gives me joy for 40 days 🤣

StCharlotte · 02/03/2022 18:55

Hope.

DobbleDobble · 02/03/2022 18:58

Decided to cut out crisps and chocolate an replace with piece of fruit , except on Saturdays …. I couldn’t quite live without a weekend treat.

southlondoner02 · 02/03/2022 19:14

Biscuits, cake, chocolates and sweets. Luckily DP is joining me so hopefully we'll spur each other on

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 02/03/2022 19:16

I am giving up trying to fathom out my dh. Probably last more than just Lent!

FuzzyPenguin · 02/03/2022 20:07

Cheese, I love it so much but I know I eat to much and it’s the reason i am so fat. Although if it’s in something I can’t control then I won’t worry to much.

Holothane · 02/03/2022 20:08

Nothing I don’t drink recovering alcoholic so that will do.

CathyorClaire · 02/03/2022 20:11

Nothing.

Never did when I was a churchgoer either and I haven't been smitten yet.

TheChosenTwo · 02/03/2022 20:12

Sundays don’t count so if you feel like it you can always indulge on a Sunday!
I’m not religious so I don’t feel the need to pressure myself into giving up fuck all but I do still partake in the Easter eggs Grin
One year my small ds declared he would give up porridge for lent - it helped that he hated porridge… such self sacrifice!!
