No ideas that aren’t very complicated here! Looking for some inspiration before I have to spend hours and hours crafting tomorrow!

A cricket player from ‘Diary of a Cricket God’.

Howmanysleepsnow · 01/03/2022 21:05

Percy Jackson.
Orange T-shirt with Camp Half Blood on. Ballpoint pen.

Nosetickle · 01/03/2022 21:06

A princess, we have a princess fancy dress costumes anyway so that’s easy and it’s what she wants to go as. So job done.

Russell19 · 01/03/2022 21:06

Pyjamas - polar express

BareBelliedSneetch · 01/03/2022 21:07

Artemis Fowl. Suit, dark glasses.

RelentlessForwardProgress · 01/03/2022 21:08

Gandalf

RelentlessForwardProgress · 01/03/2022 21:09

we are negotiating about the large staff

TheDuchessOfMN · 01/03/2022 21:09

DD isn’t dressing as a character. She’s wearing her Harry Potter hoodie (from M&S)

GuyFawkesDay · 01/03/2022 21:10

Ginny Weasley. Her best mates are doing Hermione and Luna Lovegood.

I am well pleased as we have the robes costume and I've made her a "Tom Riddle's diary". Just got to get a supermarket white school shirt....Done!

UnaOfStormhold · 01/03/2022 21:14

@RelentlessForwardProgress I have a 7yo Gandalf here - I bought a grey wizard hat and he's wearing a short greyish dressing gown of mine over grey top and trousers. I think we're saying yes to the staff (with a little help from recent storms) though Glamdring will not be putting in an appearance!

Peabody25 · 01/03/2022 21:14

Harry Potter!

He already had a cloak, glasses and wand, and he's wearing with his school trousers and shoes, and we've got my make up to draw a scar on.

CatNamedEaster · 01/03/2022 21:15

Demon Headmaster? White shirt, school trousers, tie, black gown or jacket and dark sunglasses.

Horrid Henry? Jeans and a top!

Harry Potter? Similar to Demon Headmaster but you could make a wand out of rolled up card.

Any Roman/soldier/royal/peasant/historical costume already in the house? Could be a character from any number of Horrible History books!

ElephantandGrasshopper · 01/03/2022 21:19

Diary of a wimpy kid - wearing normal clothes plus a wimpy kid mask (face drawn on a piece of cardboard)

123fushia · 01/03/2022 21:20

Teacher here - my nephew always went in black or brown trousers and a red top for WBD. He hated dressing up....but his mum stuck black spots on his back and he went as any book related ladybird!

Itsalloutofwhack · 01/03/2022 21:20

Holly hill (?) from diary of a wimpy kid. Apparently she wears a tennis outfit ✅

RelentlessForwardProgress · 01/03/2022 21:21

@UnaOfStormhold thankfully mine has only read the hobbit yet so no request for a sword! tbh knowing the kind of accidental damage he can inflict with a plastic light sabre i fear even a staff might make me unpopular with the school

SpinningBob · 01/03/2022 21:21

6year old Mildred Hubble (The Worst Witch) and 10 year old as a horse rider from a series she is reading that I have no idea what it is. I said they had to pick a character with something they already had the costume for-we are all big readers so plenty of choice! There was talk of going as The dragon from Room on the Broom, Matilda, Hiccup from How to Train your Dragon, or one of the boys from the Treehouse Collection, my only stipulation for any costume is it had to be a book before it was made into a tv series or movie!

Gooseysgirl · 01/03/2022 21:22

One as Matilda (and she will be Matilda again next year as I bought a costume) and the other is wearing a Dogman T-shirt. I am so over WBD 🙄

Paddingtonthebear · 01/03/2022 21:23

Hedwig

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/03/2022 21:24

Roman child... Roman Mysteries books.

Her 10yo sister is going as a zebra... (she has both zebra print leggings and t-shirt that she doesn't normally wear together. Plus a little face paint and animal ears.

ILoveMyMonkey · 01/03/2022 21:24

Jamie Johnson - he’s a fictional footballer - DS is wearing his football kit, we used fabric pens on an old white shirt to make the team badge and write Johnson and number 11on the back. Easiest wbd costume yet.

CheshireChat · 01/03/2022 21:25

A firefighter as school chose the theme Hmm.

I already had everything for Harry Potter damn it.

bettertocryinamercedes · 01/03/2022 21:25

Jeremy Clarkson from Clarksons farm. (She has the book as well as loving the tv show).

So, Jeans, Croft jacket, tweed flat cap and her country boots.

She's filling her pockets with baler twine and I might find a jar of honey.

Greydogs123 · 01/03/2022 21:28

Agatha Oddly - girl detective. I told my daughter she could go as anything if I didn’t have to buy or make it. Luckily, Agatha looks like my dd and the few props needed, we have.

screweduppotatoe · 01/03/2022 21:29
