Just did it and took about 5 weeks all in that's online application took at least 3 weeks for them to receive my passport though even sending it 1st class recorded xxx

Mychitchatdays · 01/03/2022 09:51

Less than two weeks.

Starlightstarbright1 · 01/03/2022 09:52

I sent my sons mid January.. still been processed

FlyingFlamingo · 01/03/2022 10:00

I posted dd’s nearly 2 weeks ago and the tracking still hasn’t updated to say they have received it

RealHousewifeOfPontypandy · 01/03/2022 10:00

thanks, I'll go or the premium option then - we fly on the 8th April and did that thing I never do of realising yesterday his passport had expired. reading lots of mixed processing times and not sure i want to gamble him missing out on our first family break in a while....

Mine took three weeks, and that was with a name change too.

RealHousewifeOfPontypandy · 01/03/2022 10:07

Arrghh what would you do? Online, i can get everything sent off today, or 1 week fast track?! I hate adulting and I hate that I told husband to check passports when he booked flights a month ago....

First child passport took 4 weeks so guessing renewal would have been quicker as verification of photo took a week.

MrsDThomas · 01/03/2022 10:13

My renewal (adult obviously!) took 7 days. Including the weekend. I was astonished! That was in January

legosnowqueen · 01/03/2022 20:58

My DS's has been with the Liverpool office since 2 February, although they were slow to update receipt on the system. I was notified on 25 February that it's been sent with TNT but there is no sign of it yet (or of any tracking info on the TNT website) so I hope it turns up...

marcopront · 01/03/2022 21:06

We did premium service in December.
Went to the passport office on Thursday, the new passport arrived on Saturday.

The old passport took a month to come back.

WhatAWasteOfOranges · 01/03/2022 21:12

If you’re travelling in April I would 100% do the fast track service.
I sent my sons off for a renewal (signed for and tracked) and it got taken out the envelope and so I’ve had to change it to a lost in transit case and it’s been a headache so wouldn’t risk it, if you’re on a deadline. Once you start the process I then think it’s hard to then change your application to a fast track.

electrocautery · 01/03/2022 22:00

I applied for renewals of my own passport and my son's about two weeks ago. I then sent the old passports first class post thinking nothing much of it.
I had a reply last week saying they received my son's old passport but not mine ( child and adult had different addresses to send to).
I'm starting to get mildly concerned as we are travelling late April.
When do you think it's worth chasing to find out if the old passport has been lost, or if it's sitting in a pile ready to be processed. ?

ilovebagpuss · 01/03/2022 22:50

Did my daughters online and it's been a week so far and just had yo have it verified as her picture was very different.
Had an email saying its been verified and its bring processed so seems pretty slick so far. I sent the old passport back signed for just in case.

RealHousewifeOfPontypandy · 02/03/2022 10:16

Thanks all, for the sake of 70 odd quid I've gone for the one week service to guarantee we get it before we travel, easier to go to Peterborough than leave an 11 year old behind/change flights....
Renewal dates for other children are now in my diary....

Funny how the processing dates vary so much....

DS's passport arrived back today...phew! I found the delays in updating the website more stressful than there being no tracking at all

Glad its back .. how long was it in processing. My sons has been in processing since 14th February
legosnowqueen · 05/03/2022 11:50

@Starlightstarbright1 since 2 February, the most frustrating thing was the online tracking not being updated...

Notjustabrunette · 05/03/2022 12:28

Pay for the fast track. We’re traveling early April and ours are just being printed now after 4wks. I can’t take the stress!

seasaltstripes · 05/03/2022 12:53

Three weeks here. Arrived yesterday. How strange there are such discrepancies!

doradoo · 05/03/2022 13:24

I'm applying for DS's renewal from overseas-been told it'll be 11 weeks 😱

BirdOnTheWire · 05/03/2022 13:27

Waiting for DH's renewal. Did it online on 19th Feb. Sent old passport by recorded delivery which they got on 22nd Feb but only updated the tracking on 4th March.

We want to go late April but I'm not booking until passport arrives.

Thank you.. hopefully will be here in a couple of weeks.

Firstshoes · 08/03/2022 07:26

Hi Legs, I'm in the same boat. DD's passport sent on Friday from Liverpool via TNT. No tracking info provided and not recognising the info when I try and track it. Did you get any notification before it was delivered or did it just appear?

cameocat · 08/03/2022 07:27

3 weeks in January
