Child hopscotching on pavement
Would this in any way shape or form be classed as graffiti?

Are you in SW London? We did chalk on Sunday.

And no it's not graffiti @purpleme12, don't be a grouch. These threads happen big annually. Fun is not a crime.

@redwingboots
Thank you for your post reassuring
I actually offered for them to come out today when they called but they said they didn't need to

@purpleme12

Worse than Victor Meldrew unfortunately

Thank you for the comments. Pretty unanimous.
(This is a comment that's been made towards us/my child's chalking)

No, even the police couldn't get judges to agree it is graffiti

If there was one drawing it was definitely not graffiti.
Possibly graffita. 😁😁

I’m a keen (aka fanatical) gardener and understand that, from a legal perspective, the popular practice of chalking the names of weeds on the pavement may be regarded as criminal damage. That seems bizarre to me, as “damage” implies something irreversible and chalk can be removed with a watering can, but that (supposedly) is the law.

As others have said, you have to wonder about what sort of person would make a complaint.

Shade17 · 01/03/2022 19:26

Criminal damage doesn’t have to be permanent.

purpleme12 · 01/03/2022 19:41

Well it washed off yesterday anyway 🤣

@Shade17

Criminal damage doesn’t have to be permanent.
Yes, that’s the bit that I find counter-intuitive
