Child hopscotching on pavement
Would this in any way shape or form be classed as graffiti?

Make the clean up part of the fun, in the evening chuck a bucket of water over it and let your DC scrub at it with a little broom. Set a timer and see how quick they can do it - make it nice and fresh for the morning. Theyll probably enjoy it and the neighbours can't moan win-win.

We have that smooth tarmac-like path in my area. It rarely rains (east norfolk) and a group of neighborhood children chalked the entire road, it lasted about a month and looked fab for a while then started to wear off and looked awful and patchy.

Chloemol · 27/02/2022 22:04

No, it will wash off in the next rain

purpleme12 · 27/02/2022 22:08

Thank you

It's obviously just another thing to try to get at us

If they want spend their energy doing that then I guess that's up to them

Hopscotch and chalk op?! What den of iniquity are you running?! Rise above and ignore, they're probably trying to get a rise out of you, so benign smile and walk on by!

FaceLikeASlappedAss · 27/02/2022 22:34

Or when they moan again tell them, they've had to use chalk as you've ran out of spray paint but you'll be sure to order some on prime to get it here ASAP :p

Dontbeamugallyourlifesucker · 28/02/2022 03:26

It's so sad in this day and age children can't play outside without someone complaining 😞 back in the day we used to play hop scotch all the time chalking the numbers on the path. No one ever complained.

Lizzy1980 · 28/02/2022 04:05

Aren’t some people miserable! I think it’s lovely to see kids playing outside and doing activities like chalking

1forAll74 · 28/02/2022 04:56

I have heard lots of people. some on here, complain about children chalking on the road or pavements. It can brighten the streets up ! Years and years ago, we had very very wide pavement slabs, all down the roads round an estate where i lived then. Everyday after school, loads of children used to chalk all over them, either doing pictures, or hop scotch, some of the children used to do fantastic pictures,

Every child in the street, use to have a box of chalks,in all different colours. and swap chalks with eachother,if one didn't have a particular colour.

ChocolateMassacre · 28/02/2022 06:56

Ye gods, woman! Shove a tablet in your DC's hands and buy them a McDs like any other self-respecting parent would do rather than letting them out to terrorise the neighbourhood with their drawing and their active play. Have you no shame?

Paint doesn't vanish when it rains

Chalk does

There's a house in the next village that does this. I'm in my 50s and just can't resist using it when I'm passing. Hopefully nobody sees me Blush

Draw this on the pavement outside your neighbour's house, OP.

This OP is why your child must not wash it off.

There are 50+ women in your local area practising so they can show modern children how to play it properly. Wink

megletthesecond · 01/03/2022 17:30

No.

I love seeing children's chalking on pavements.

No way. Are you serious? What vile people.
BogRollBOGOF · 01/03/2022 17:34

@Cleothecat75

During the first lockdown, one lady Round here started chalking really elaborate hopscotch’s On the pavement outside her house, they were fantastic and several other people started doing them (although none of them were ever as good as the original, they were like works of art!)

Definitely not graffiti. most of the UK is forecast rain over the next couple of days, so it will be washed away pretty quick anyway so the grumpy neighbour will have to find something else to be grumpy about.

There was a heated thread on that theme around that time.

I'm all for childish, temporary fun Smile

purpleme12 · 01/03/2022 17:38

@Blossomtoes unfortunately it's all true
It's been a while since the last couple of malicious reports (also lies) so i guess it was time for another one!!

Make sure it isn't a Banksy before you get rid of it Wink .

miltonj · 01/03/2022 17:46

If it is, then my 17 month old is a bloody talented graffiti artist and criminal.

🤣 I know it's amazing isn't it, never had me or my child (who wouldn't say boo to a goose she's so shy with new people) accused of graffiti before! Funny how as soon as you move house you become like a completely different person! 🤣

RedWingBoots · 01/03/2022 18:11

OP ahh so you have neighbours who don't like young children. If they make enough reports SS will start ignoring them.
