Moviprep - TMI - how the hell do you know if it’s worked?

Have drunk 2 litres, minus about 75-100ml that I gagged back up . I haven’t had a normal BM since 4, just bright yellow liquid (completely clear), does that mean it’s worked? Or am I aiming for colour of water? I’m absolutely exhausted and desperately don’t want to have to go through this again if it hasn’t worked .

If you've been shitting through the eye of a needle, then yes it has worked.

formalineadeline · 27/02/2022 21:20

Or am I aiming for colour of water?

Yes. It depends why you were asked to do it how much of a problem it will or won't be.

Bagelsandbrie · 27/02/2022 21:22

I would say that sounds like it’s worked. If there’s no lumps and it’s fluid that’s fine I think.

FIT test came back as bleeding somewhere so they need to figure out why - only 30 so GP said vanishingly small chance it’ll be nasty but have to check seemingly .

It’s still bright yellow, but I suppose I’ve got another eleven hours to go .

Definitely no lumps ! It’s essentially wee but from the wrong end 😬🤣

Bright yellow liquid like wee is perfect Smile. Go sleep! And hope all goes well.

ginnybag · 27/02/2022 22:01

Did this on Friday, and had an 'excellent' prep according to my Dr on sat morning. I still had the yellowish traces too. If its basically been pouring out of you, it's all good.

If its for a colonoscopy, take the sedation and try to just relax. You'll feel it a bit when the drugs wear off, but it honestly wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought.

A warning, though, the watery thing continues for a while!

Isababybel · 27/02/2022 22:04

Omg, you will know

Dammitthisisshit · 27/02/2022 22:09

Yellow water is good. I also was told excellent bowel prep. If it’s for a colonoscopy then just to warn you I was still passing yellow water a couple of hours before the procedure but don’t worry - there was nothing left during it if you see what I mean!
Oh also take the sedation, take everything on offer. I took the sedation and they offered me gas and air on top. I took it without a moments hesitation!

fnknackered · 27/02/2022 22:21

Oh God at still passing it by morning, I desperately want it to stop now - I’m red raw and that’s with sudocrem and baby wipes . Had an upset tummy all day yesterday and Friday too almost as if it knew .

Never felt so sick in all my life . Yes it’s pouring out, it was a shock the first time .

I thought that - the relative who’s picking me up said we can go out for lunch and my only thoughts are panic in case that happens in a cafe somewhere !! They said they’re giving me sedation, IV pain relief and gas and air so hopefully that all together helps .

Be so relieved to get this done tomorrow . I’m shattered .

LittleMissPeggySue · 27/02/2022 22:22

I've had 2 colonoscopies and that was pretty much the result after a good few doses of the bowel prep. It's also a relief because by that point your arse has been cut to ribbons by all the wiping and this is much less of a clean up operation.

Good luck and if you haven't already, start thinking about the lovely things you're going to eat when it's all over x

Bagelsandbrie · 27/02/2022 22:37

Good luck. ❤️

SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 27/02/2022 22:44

Ooh good luck. Take all the drugs on offer!

As for now, remember to rehydrate as much as you can. All that piss-poo will leave you dry as a bone in a drought.

Well done for keeping with it despite feeling so ill.

fnknackered · 28/02/2022 06:25

Finally stopped at half 1 and got four hours sleep or so, only to start again this morning. It’s probably the oddest experience of my life as it isn’t at all painful, just very uncomfortable and exhausting . Hopefully it settles by the time I’m shooting off to hospital - scared to fart !

OP posts:
Milomonster · 28/02/2022 07:32

Best of luck Flowers

Bagelsandbrie · 28/02/2022 07:36

Towel on the car seat and lots of spare bottoms and pants! Hopefully you won’t need them but good to be prepared! Hope it goes well.

fnknackered · 28/02/2022 09:17

In hospital . Not allowed a sedative due to previous bad reaction so they said fentanyl and entonox . Terrified now .

OP posts:
SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 28/02/2022 11:39

Let us know how it’s gone. I hope it wasn’t too awful.

fnknackered · 28/02/2022 13:43

It wasn’t the best ! Gas and air made me feel weird - very weird - kept hyperventilating and then holding breath . Remember a lot of being told to breathe slowly !! Got that and fentanyl . Very, very strange . They said no evidence of cancer but ?colitis at a microscopic level .

They said zero evidence of cancer but think maybe microscopic colitis .

Not at all pleasant though - to be honest it was absolute agony at points . My advice for anyone reading this, take all drugs they offer and then some . Prep definitely worked thankfully .

OP posts:
SwissCheeseRentedChildren · 28/02/2022 20:52

I’m sorry it was so unpleasant for you. Great that there’s no evidence of cancer.

What can be done about microscopic colitis?

Bagelsandbrie · 28/02/2022 22:24

Sorry to hear it was awful. (Mine was too!) but good there’s no evidence of cancer. Hope they can do something to help with the colitis.

betwixtlives · 28/02/2022 22:34

It’s bloody horrible isn’t it? But glad to hear no cancer

Definitely - cried out a few times . Remember a lot of being asked to turn on to my tummy etc and the last couple of times crying as was so sore . There’s a reason they offer sedation, for sure ! … I remember gulping back the entonox and it making no difference at all . Fentanyl useless as well . Am all bruised feeling today and struggling to pee . I’ve got endometriosis with bladder and bowel issues so I’m guessing it’s all just aggravated - fine until I bend over or twist, and then I’m sore . Absolutely exhausted.. And terrified of the thought of going to the loo !!!

Is it normal to not be able/wanting to eat anything after? I’ve had two sandwiches, and a few biscuits but nothing else since yesterday . Couldn’t finish the sandwich, had to have it in small bites as eating made me feel so uncomfortably full/bloated . Managing to drink without a problem . I’ve got peppermint tea on Tesco order for tomorrow and peppermint tablets, as getting colicky type pain so am guessing I’m full of wind still …

OP posts:
Bagelsandbrie · 01/03/2022 19:58

I think I actually slept almost solidly for about 48 hours afterwards except for getting up for the toilet! The sedation and procedure etc just wiped me out. Didn’t want to eat anything until about day 3 so you’re doing pretty well!
