What are your positives from this weekend?

In a bid to focus more on the positives & stop letting certain things / people drag me down:

  • DD was a lot less difficult than she has been. She’s 3.5. Maybe we are turning a corner?????
  • we tried a new activity for DD and it was lovely & the other parents seemed lovely
  • I’ve really struggling to make friends & a massive issue for me is lack of friends / loneliness. But I spent time this weekend with the one and only friend I have made locally & she really is truly lovely and I’m grateful I met her and she wants to be my friend

We've had a weekend with delicious food Grin Including today going to Wagamama for lunch :)

Although whilst out we bought some chocolate, and we have already eaten it :( We should have bought more!!!

JammyCandy · 27/02/2022 21:10

@duvetdayforeveryone another positive for he could be I went to the shop & actually resisted buying chocolate (need to lose weight)

I have had a wonderful weekend. No stress. Just a great combination of fun, pottering, productivity and food. A tear ago such a weekend would have been impossible.

We have had a lovely weekend. Dd has been going through a bit of a defiant stage so to have had a weekend where I haven't had to lose my shit has been lovely.

The good weather has definitely helped improved everyone's mood

CommonPrimrose · 27/02/2022 21:14

The sun shone today and I was able to get out and take a walk with my very lovely husband.
And my teenager is in a good mood!

Orchidflower1 · 27/02/2022 21:17

Lovely idea for a thread @JammyCandy, particularly with the way the world is at the moment.

I’ve had my nails done- not a regular thing due to cost but a treat for myself. I’m struggling a bit at the moment and needed a lift.

Also quite mundane but my Yorkshire puddings rose for our roast today. I’m a fairly decent baker and an ok cook but I’m rubbish at Yorkshire’s so impressed with myself.

I attempted to make an awkward situation easier with an ex-friend, got the verbal equivalent of a punch on the nose in response, and have now blocked her number and deleted her from contacts. The positive is that I don't have to think any longer about whether I should try and speak to her again.

RaininSummer · 27/02/2022 21:31

The sun shone and I wasn't at work. Saw daughter and granddaughters. Made apple and pear crumble. First daffs out on my yard Simple pleasures.

bloodywhitecat · 27/02/2022 21:33

I gave my husband what he wanted and deserved, I was so scared I would fail him but in the end I didn't.

I met up with my dad who I have basically been estranged from for the past three years or so. Going in to the meeting I felt physically sick, and I cried.

It started out tense, but we ended up hugging and then eating lunch together.

There is still a lot of healing to do, but a great deal of resentment and bitterness was done away with today.

Pegasussnail · 27/02/2022 21:43

Having a nice vodkaGrin tonight.
I didn't feel in great spirits this weekend but I'm organised. Cottage pie made to get ahead. House is well decluttered.
Going abroad very soon so packing next weekend Grin

Madmog · 27/02/2022 21:46

Had to cancel a weekend away three weeks ago as we had covid. Luckily had this weekend off work as well to use holidays up, so break transferred. It's been a lovely sunny winter weekend. I've spent it with my husband - we've talked about current events and decided that whatever is in front of us to hold onto positive thoughts about eachother, life's experiences. Also, our 20 year old DD (has her own worries) but is currently having the time of her life while on a year abroad with uni. In our wider life we have some genuine fantastic friends out there and my two lovely cats who I can't wait to see tomorrow.

whiteworldgettingwhiter · 27/02/2022 22:08

The sun shone! I did some gardening, saw a friend for a lovely brunch, and we had a family day out yesterday and the teen dc got on well. All good!

A580Hojas · 27/02/2022 22:21

I spent most of the weekend outside. Weather has been gorgeous here.

1000yardstare · 27/02/2022 22:24

It was my birthday. Spent it with my favourite humans. Lovely sentiments from near and far. And the sun shoneSmile

Maverickess · 27/02/2022 22:26

Mine's a bit strange but it's kind of restored my faith in humans a bit.
I was on the bus home from work last night and there was an ambulance and fire engine parked up at the side of the road with cars double parked the other side.
The bus driver waited patiently as did all the passengers and then he reversed the bus to allow the fire engine to move and turn around and then blocked the road from behind with the bus so the ambulance could turn around without cars coming through (cars could get between the fire engine/ambulance and parked cars) I mean it's no big deal really but I've known people get arsey with bus drivers over similar things or people get in general wound up and shitty towards the emergency services when they're trying to do their job and blocking a road or drive and this was just lovely patience and cooperation by everyone involved 😊

BigRedDuck · 27/02/2022 22:27

I had some real down time with both DCs this weekend. I got to cuddle my gramps. Since covid, his mental health, and the lack of cuddles, each one has become very important and treasured.

JammyCandy · 07/03/2022 18:21

I made good progress on overcoming driving anxiety that set in after I became a mum

I drove to a new place, drove my new car without DH, and did some motorway driving

badlydrawnbear · 07/03/2022 18:29

I survived. That was a big achievement in the face of extreme anxiety and a harrowing early morning phone call.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 07/03/2022 18:32

DD2 did 5 miles at her sponsored run. This is the child who used to moan a school PE lesson was tiring and had no endurance. Shes really improved this winter!

DD1, who has always had confidence issues, seems to be finding she is good at stuff now.

Cloverforever · 07/03/2022 18:36

Had a gorgeous cliff walk in the sun with my boyfriend, with an excellent pub lunch half way. Its the simple things sometimes.

I'm very sorry @badlydrawnbear. I really hope things improve for you soon.

Musicaltheatremum · 07/03/2022 18:36

I tested positive for covid so hopefully won't get it for my wedding in 9 weeks!

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 07/03/2022 18:40

We were lucky enough to have a trip to the coast and went for a walk on the seafront yesterday.

It was quite stormy but seeing the waves crash and spray up over the sea wall was really invigorating

RaginaPhalange · 07/03/2022 18:42

1 year old has started to take a few steps on his own.

We can now leave the house after having covid.
