Clothes which are too clean to go in the wash but been worn

What do you with clothes after you've worn them once, but know you aren't going to wear them for a few days at least? At the moment I put all of these clothes on a chair, bit the chair gets piled high with random things. Is it ok to put them back in the wardrobe? Or is that disgusting?

After an airing, back in the wardrobe

hamsterchump · 27/02/2022 15:01

I just put them back in the wardrobe unless I'm going to wear them the next day. I figure if they're clean enough to wear again then they're clean enough for the wardrobe, plus it's tidier.

Beneficentbovine88 · 27/02/2022 15:02

I hang them on the back of the door or fold them over the end of my (metal) bed and if I haven't worn them after a week, they go in the wash. I agree that a chair in the bedroom just becomes a clutter magnet. A friend of mine has a cubby hole in her wardrobe which she reserves for jumpers and folded trousers that she has already worn once and intends to wear again. But she mainly wears very casual clothes; I am not sure it would work for work clothes.

I think the problem with putting worn things back in the wardrobe is that they get forgotten, and even a tiny spot of food on a cardigan for example can attract moths. But I think you could probably get away with it if you wear the things within a few days and your wardrobe isn't crammed. Also, make sure you have cedar balls in there.

If they in any way dirty, they get washed, otherwise they go back in the cupboard.

skippy67 · 27/02/2022 15:10

Back in the wardrobe.

KohlaParasaurus · 27/02/2022 15:17

I have a Limbo Chair (actually, it's the top of a small chest of drawers) for clothes I'm going to wear again in the next few days. Anything that doesn't need washing and isn't going to be worn again in the next few days gets aired, spot cleaned if necessary, and put away.

Put them back in the wardrobe. DP leaves them on the chair and it's annoying!

gemloving · 27/02/2022 15:22

Apparently you can put them in the freezer - that's what my Finnish friend told me that's what they do over there!

Comedycook · 27/02/2022 15:24

I put it back in the chest of drawers or wardrobe. I don't see how it's disgusting. If I'm going to put it back on my body how can it be disgusting that it touches other clothes which will also go on my body...

Kazzyhoward · 27/02/2022 15:24

I have new, unworn clothes on left of hanger in wardrobe and worn ones on the right side of the hanger, leaving a small space in between.

Betty000 · 27/02/2022 15:24

Air them in an open window then back in the wardrobe or hanging on door until worn again

Why would you do that?!

Mine go back in the drawer/wardrobe.

Redcrayons · 27/02/2022 15:27

I have a hook on the inside of the wardrobe for them interim clothes.

I got rid of the chair-robe because it was getting out of control.

valerianaofficiana · 27/02/2022 15:29

Pile them on a chair and wear again. Piles keep growing though.Need new method.

Leftleg · 27/02/2022 15:29

I put them on the floor.

SheWoreYellow · 27/02/2022 15:31

I wear work shirts and T-shirts twice and after the first wearing i hang the shirts back up but on a hanger facing the wrong way. T-shirts go on a shelf at the bottom of my wardrobe or draped over a rail in the wardrobe.

Other things, that I wear more times, just go back in the wardrobe.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 27/02/2022 15:31

Hung up and aired then back in the wardrobe.

TempleofZooom · 27/02/2022 15:31

I never put them back in the wardrobe.
Dont do that unless you want moths.
Clothes moths love dark, undisturbed places with worn clothes.
I place over my full length mirror to air but usually wear the next day.

Beachsidesunset · 27/02/2022 15:32

'The Chair' obviously.

TempleofZooom · 27/02/2022 15:32

Why would you do that?!
Moths!

My clothes aren't in the wardrobe long enough for moths. I'm only talking a few days, Anything I know I won't be wearing again within the week just gets put into the washing basket. Likewise anything I've worn long enough for it to be sweaty goes into the washing basket.
gemloving · 27/02/2022 15:41

@Coronado2 apparently it removed all the smell and bacteria. I've never done it myself.

Octomingo · 27/02/2022 15:42

Day to air, then back in wardrobe inside out, so I know I've worn it. Next wear = a wash.
