I wondered now that the government are ending free tests if anyone else is stocking up on free tests?

No.

I work in a hospital and have 28 tests which will last me a couple of weeks. It’s the stock I usually have.

I wouldn’t stock pile them.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/02/2022 10:19

No, I don't use them anyway so I don't need any.

mogschristmascalamity · 23/02/2022 10:21

only idiots are really. Its the same with loo rolls.

In the meantime people who actually need them go without.

I fortunately ordered a pack before all hell went loose. Husbands a keyworker and tests every other day. Hopefully his work will pay for tests when needed (or reduce the amount of tests needed).

RockstarDotCom · 23/02/2022 10:21

No. We’ve got quite a few as our children’s school kept sending them home. We’ll buy them when they run out.

nether · 23/02/2022 10:22

No, because a household member is critically vulnerable (4 jabs group) and if we're not included in the continuing availability of free test I don't see who will be.

It's still going to be important to have protections around the most vulnerable (eg currently advised that all visitors should LFT)

alltheapples · 23/02/2022 10:23

I am not paying for tests.

OP posts:
Soubriquet · 23/02/2022 10:24

I have about 5 boxes because the school keep asking for me to test ds as he has a cough. At least twice a week I’ve been called in to test him again on school site.

CirreltheSquirrel · 23/02/2022 10:24

No. So far we've used 5 between us (plus 2 paid travel tests), and we have 10 left. That should do us. No kids, no requirement to test for work and only occasional contact with vulnerable people.

TheSonjaMorgan · 23/02/2022 10:25

No, haven't tested for ages. Have several elderly relatives in the family and it looks like they will be free for the over 80s so can get them to order some for us if need be.

FedUpOfLighteningCrotch · 23/02/2022 10:26

No, but I am going to order a pack for DP to pack in our hospital bag. I’m due our baby next month and he needs to provide a negative test for every day that we’re there. Touch wood one pack is enough, we stayed for 4 days with my first child so I think it should be

Svara · 23/02/2022 10:26

What for? The most vulnerable should still be able to access them and if workplaces require them they should also supply them?

BobbinHood · 23/02/2022 10:27

No, and I won’t be paying for them either. We’ve got a few boxes from DH’s school and will use those up.

Yicky · 23/02/2022 10:27

No. I will not be paying for tests I don't require. I don't think many people will. A family will use up most of a box to test on one occasion. If a box costs £20-£30 we won't even have one in the house which is fine.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 23/02/2022 10:28

Everyone who works are paying for them, millions a month from tax!!!!!

Yes I’ve got about 6 boxes but I use one every other day for work and pretty sure work will
Still supply

Mufflette · 23/02/2022 10:29

Yes. I'm pregnant so want to be able to test if/when we're going into hospital, and want to make sure we can also test if we catch it so we've an idea of when we should go back to work etc. Not loads, I have 2 packs and will probably get two more.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 23/02/2022 10:30

I won’t stockpile them but I am in the ‘at risk 4 jabs’ group as is my Mum. We will spilt what we have between us. I can’t afford to pay for tests as on UC which doesn’t even cover my bills, so not sure what happens next.

alloalloallo · 23/02/2022 10:31

No

I’ve got 2 packs at home - I ordered a pack a couple of weeks, and then DD was sent home with another pack from college when she broke up for half term.

That will have to do, I’m not paying for them and I’m not going to stock pile them either

NightmareSlashDelightful · 23/02/2022 10:31

Not at the moment. I'm in Scotland, and although Sturgeon has been not her most coherent on this so far, I understand we will continue to be able to get free LFTs for the time being. (I don't know how -- up to now we've ordered ours via the gov uk site like everyone else.)

But I've always said I won't pay for them once they start charging.

Yicky · 23/02/2022 10:35

"Everyone who works are paying for them, millions a month from tax!!!!!"

Yes, tax payers and future tax payers are already paying a ridiculous amount for them. It's a massive waste of money and an environmental assault. All those years we have been trying to reduce the use of plastic and anti bacterial products and now it's a plastic and anti bacterial frenzy. It needs to stop.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/02/2022 10:35

@Svara

Will be interested to see if workplaces start supplying them again. I'm patient facing in a hospital, and for months now we've had to order ours online just like everyone else.
WhatAHexIGotInto · 23/02/2022 10:35

Nobody should be stockpiling anything. If you are vulnerable you will get them. If not, and you wish to so a test, you pay. We can't keep subsidising these tests indefinitely for people who have no symptoms but just want to do one.

SoupDragon · 23/02/2022 10:35

No. It would be irresponsible and a waste of money.

I am not paying for tests.

Why do you think you shouldn't pay?

GeneLovesJezebel · 23/02/2022 10:36

No. Work will have to start getting them for me if they still want them doing.

WhatAHexIGotInto · 23/02/2022 10:38

OP do you understand how much these tests are costing the country? Don't you care? Why should you not pay?

TabbyM · 23/02/2022 10:38

There are 4 massive crates in my work, thinking of selling online...
