For me it’s Leona Lewis’s version of Run by Snow Patrol, I love that song but hate her version of it.

My favourite song is Say Hello Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell and the David Gray version is an absolute abomination, both musically and because this song from 1981 is clearly describing a gay relationship at a time when they weren't exactly celebrated and Gray totally whitewashes it...honestly I could rant about it all day.

I don't think Say Hello Wave Goodbye is about a gay or an extra marital relationship and doesn't even need those extra levels of interpretation . It's just a brilliant torch song about the end of a doomed relationship. Agree about the David Grey cover though!

I’m sure Marc almond said he wrote it watching gay couples coming out clubs in soho when he first moved to linda on, I agree though it’s fab for any breakup. David gray just didn’t have that bitterness that I loved in it 😂
