Decided to get into home decorations and really decorate the place for Easter.
Anyone have photos of Easter tree/ decorations from previous years to inspire me ?

How about fairy lights around a wooden cross? Kind of a nod to the original Easter event but less morbid with the twinkly lights.

Sauvignonblanket · 20/02/2022 22:31

We do - and now it stays all year and the decorations change with the seasons. Snowdrop terrarium at the start of Feb, now red felt hearts, soon blossoms, then Easter decs.

Hmbleybee · 20/02/2022 22:32

Yes, willow branches and hand painted eggs. We used to blow and paint eggs when i was little as an Easter time activity. We have Austrian roots.

We call ours the Easter Branch and it's exactly like @EasterChickChick 's above - I I've the way it's springing to life and the live foliage is really important for me for that.

Hebeee · 21/02/2022 01:28

We started doing this twenty-odd years ago with twigs from the garden sprayed white hung with some egg decorations (from the US) that came from the gift shop I used to have.

These days we have a 60cm white tree (Gisela Graham, iirc) I got on eBay, hung with decs from Homesense. The decs stay on it all year, but we only have it out for two or three weeks.

We do also have a small (black) Halloween tree too 😂

AlwaysLatte · 21/02/2022 01:36

We've always done this! I usually cut branches off our magnolia and willow and decorate them.

Easter tree? What fresh hell..?

converseandjeans · 21/02/2022 02:01

It's a German tradition and is I think a nice one. I bought a tree in John Lewis a few years back & have some nice decorations.

HerRoyalNotness · 21/02/2022 02:35

@GrouchyKiwi

At this rate our Christmas tree will still be up.
I still have a small Xmas tree and Garland in the dining room. Smile
fallfallfall · 21/02/2022 03:00

I’ll go into the bush and get a nice pussy willow branch and hang Easter eggs. I have nice ribbon and a fake carrot.

MinnieMountain · 21/02/2022 06:48

MIL has a branch up permanently that she decorates according to the seasons. For Easter she’ll have painted eggs from JL and various other places, fake flowers and lambs.

Tigersonvaseline · 21/02/2022 07:18

It's very natural to mark and celebrate Spring.

I enjoy using the pastel colours in the house and marking the end of a long dark winter.

We also mark Halloween .

It makes the house look more interesting as well.

I totally understand many people don't want the additional cost ( tk Max sale)or Hassel but why be proud of it? That's what I don't get.
We use our decoration for about 2 weeks.

bananacakerox · 21/02/2022 08:17

Here are mine from a few years ago.

These threads always talk about it being ‘ a new fad’
Maybe in England, but in many parts of Europe’s it’s been traditional for centuries. It’s more ‘important’ that the Christmas tree for many.
It’s not an evergreen tree like the Christmas tree, but branch’s in a vase or pot to symbolise beginning of life. Then decorated with decorated eggs

mnahmnah · 21/02/2022 08:23

When I was labour and high on diamorphine, I kept snoozing between contractions. When one started I woke up with a start and proclaimed ‘Easter trees!’ Husband and midwife exchanged glances and laughed, asking what on earth I was on about. I said ‘we’ll, we have Christmas trees, so why not Easter trees?! Don’t worry! I’ll sky+ it’. Grin

That was 10 years ago and not at Christmas or Easter time. I’m glad I predicted them becoming a thing Grin

edgeware · 21/02/2022 08:24

When I was growing up in the Netherlands (90s) an Easter Branch was normal, a curly willow branch that you would hang decorations on.

LoopyDream · 21/02/2022 08:35

I have met my people. Easter is my favourite to decorate for. Tk maxx have lovely bits in

isthismylifenow · 21/02/2022 08:40

No, but I am really hoping that my sad looking Orchid might spring back by Easter.

(I am doubting it though)

The ORIGINAL Easter, before Christians co opted it didn’t involve a wooden cross. In fact eggs and flowers are much more representative of the original Easter than crosses etc
Kittykatmacbill · 21/02/2022 09:19

I have got willow branches from lidl before, then decorated with egg hanging decorating. I like a spot of Easter crafting and normally Sainsbury’s or flying tiger have good kits.

Tigersonvaseline · 21/02/2022 10:53

Indeed hoping.
It amazes me that so many people don't knows this yet.

Beautiful naturally originated seasons celebrations stolen!

longtompot · 21/02/2022 11:20

Yes I do, just branches gathered from our walks with little eggs hanging off them

SuperSocks · 21/02/2022 13:02

@isthismylifenow I kill orchids as fast as they're given to me! It makes me feel dreadful! Everyone KEEPS giving them to me, presumably imagining 'This Time It Will Be Different', but it never is and the death toll just mounts up.
