(real life crush not celebrity), how do you imagine life would be now?

I'd be in my home town still. I'm sure we'd have kids and a small house. No idea what job I'd be doing as my career was a result of moving to London with the guy I ended up marrying.

I think I'd have been happy. Life would have been simpler but also much less exciting!

MintyGreenDream · 19/02/2022 10:13

Urgh he was the local scruffy bad boy no thanks

Inextremis · 19/02/2022 10:17

I'd be a rich widow - he died when he was 42 (23 years ago now) of a heart attack whilst floating in his indoor pool. He wasn't a very nice person, really, but I feel sorry for his parents, who lost 2 of their 3 children at young ages. I'd also have a surname no one could pronounce!

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 19/02/2022 10:18

I was with one of my first crushes for 9 years. He wasn't as nice as I thought he was and I think we only stayed together that long because of my rose-tinted glasses and the fact that he reminded me of a time when I was much happier. I got my 2 lovely DSs out of it though, so not all bad!

GeraneousGiraffe · 19/02/2022 10:22

I did Smile we managed long distance at university, juggled full time work with renovating and selling our way up the property ladder and he's currently sanding a doorframe while I watch a movie with the kids.

I sometimes wonder when my bubble will burst, I know how lucky we are.

DearZoom · 19/02/2022 10:23

My first crush was a guy I used to bump into at gigs when I was about 15. He was in his early 20s. He was very cool and knew famous people. I think he’d been in a Pulp video. I was obsessed! He was always lovely to me and very chatty. Obviously he wasn’t interested in me although I’m sure he knew I fancied him.
Anyway he’s quite well known in particular internet based interest circles and therefore fairly googlable.
I reckon I’d have a nice life if we were married. He lives localish to me in a nice(r) bit of London. I think he’s well off as he’s very successful in a niche bit of IT. He’s probably a bit nerdy and spends too much time on his hobby and various IT sidelines.
I found a picture of him and he’s aged very well and is still attractive.
He actually reminds me of my dad a lot! Very similar career (although the tech has moved on since my dad doing similar). Same hobby. Similar nerdyness. They even look fairly similar!
I’m feeling very stalkerish at the moment! Blush

hashbrownsandwich · 19/02/2022 10:28

Well this post led me to a quick face stalk of my first crush...

Oh. My. God. What the hell was I thinking?! He's more spotty now than he was back then, appears to be working for the complete polar opposite political party to my political leanings and worse....appears to be wearing a bow tie in every photo on his profile Confused

SleepingStandingUp · 19/02/2022 10:31

@passwordnotsecure I mean you're also 50s or nearly so I wouldn't be too harsh if I were you 😂

@Kione oh dear. Should have found a nice gay lad. I suspect gay lads are much better at talking to girls because they're not trying to prove themselves.

@dudsville yeah, I hope your taste has improved. Very sad about no 2a

@Camomila I'm sure he'd shave it off for you 😂
@StColumbofNavron rich, sexually sated but resentful then.

@Vampirethriller that's sad 😔

@MrsDThomas you lot could start a support group.

@MayBeeMee lucky escape then!

@TheVanguardSix oh no. If I find a time machine, I'll share.

@mrstimriggins yes I think I'd be on the "not quite right but not unhappy" team too

@crunchyapp too cute

It was my brother's best friend. He moved down south to our town from Liverpool when he was about ten. (50 years on he still has a lovely Scouse twang)

I was about seven when I first laid eyes on him and I was smitten - pretty much until I met my own lovely DH in my 30s Blush

He's a lovely guy and he married a lovely woman (grrr!).

Like me he couldn't have children and we both love travel so I actually think our life would have been fairly similar to my life now.

Mammyloveswine · 19/02/2022 10:50

I would probably be living in a different city, possibly not teaching!

Would be slimmer (first crush very active so i reckon id be the same too Grin)

I clearly have a type though as first crush dark haired and blue eyed, hubby is too!

HazelBite · 19/02/2022 11:21

I'd be a widow, he died in a car crash., now if I'd have married my first boyfriend..................................

drudgewithagrudge · 19/02/2022 11:35

I had my first crush when I was 7. He was a beach bump type guy who worked for the Punch and Judy man on Weymouth beach and collected our money after each performance " to buy sausages for the crocodile". That damn crocodile got all my spending money that holiday. Crush was very tanned with dark hair and eyes. Wore old t shirt and rolled up jeans with bare feet. Probably 20 to 30 years old.
7 year old me had fantasy that when I grew up I would visit Weymouth and he would fall instantly in love with me. Somehow I never got round to it.

Simonjt · 19/02/2022 11:57

He’s had a very successful rugby career, has an extremely cute dog and two great children, so life in my little fantasy world would have probably been quite good.

sadpapercourtesan · 19/02/2022 11:58

I'd be nursing a very old man Grin

Very happy with how things have turned out.

emsmar · 19/02/2022 18:51

@lunar1

I'd be divorced from a gay man!
Same! 🤣
HeyUpits2022 · 19/02/2022 18:57

He's turned out to be a nice chap - he was the first boy I kissed. Recently married to a really lovely woman who I also know, I wouldn't swap DH for him though.

merryhouse · 19/02/2022 19:10

Possibly a very similar life, though with more resistance to the churchy bits Grin

We're Facebook friends. I'm not sure he's really my type any more (though presumably he still has long slender fingers, so there's that...)

My third, first major, crush is gay.

Thatsplentyjack · 19/02/2022 19:15

Well, I was oy about 11 🤣 but life would be fine. He still doesn't have children though so it wouldn't have lasted because I always knew I wanted children.

Nat6999 · 19/02/2022 19:15

I had two, one was the first boy I slept with who is in a gay marriage which doesn't do a lot for my confidence & the other is now one of my best friends & fwb when we both want, we are both single parents & agree we both have too much baggage to be in a relationship.

ancientgran · 19/02/2022 19:18

I married him at 17, had 2 kids and divorced 14 years later. He was a drunk and preferred being in the pub to being with me. He drank himself to death.

Pearlyqueen21 · 19/02/2022 19:20

It would be awful! I had a deep, long lasting crush on an acquaintance from 12-18, but he became a Christian fundamentalist Tory as he aged. I don’t think he’d have been happy with an atheist lefty wife!

Liverbird77 · 19/02/2022 19:20

The first real one? I would be married with loads of kids and still very much in love and lust if things had gone the way I wanted.
In reality, he was too selfish to have any children and had a wandering eye. He's twenty years older than me though, so maybe he would've calmed down by now!

ISeeTheLight · 19/02/2022 19:21

I'd still be living in my home country in Western Europe. He was a boy in my class aged 13-14, the son of our Latin teacher. I'm still friends with him FB, he still seems lovely and is married with young kids. Reckon I'd have had an awesome FIL and MIL too (his mother also taught at our school).

RishiRich · 19/02/2022 19:21

I'd be married to a music teacher. I haven't seen him in years but he seemed to have grown into a nice chap the last time I saw him. I bumped into him at Sainsbury's and we had a friendly chat. No regrets - we were only 9 when I had a crush on him!

Peachtoiletpaper · 19/02/2022 19:23

I'd be endlessly talking about extensions and family cars with my brother's tedious friend who is very nice but like an old man in his 30s
