So trying to make my work afternoon go quicker and listen to some music, so up pops the band Garbage from the 90's, how could I forget how bloody brilliant they were especially Stupid Girl! Anyone agree?

OP posts:
GloriaSilver · 20/02/2022 09:10

@AmberGer

Garbage were brilliant, I also loved push it and I think I'm paranoid. Born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's. 90's my favourite era of music and my favourite bands. Anyone remember Menswear?
I went to school with one of them!
Frazzlerock · 21/02/2022 12:10

@Yourownpersonaljesus ahh I was enjoying that scene around 1996 onwards. Wish I'd started earlier, but I would have been a bit too young! Good luck to your DD, shame about her music taste Grin

@Namechange600 yep me! Collide-a-scope at Macadam and Popscene. Such amazing times, I really miss it. I remember they tried to bring Popscene back but it wasn't the same, sadly.

RJnomore1 · 21/02/2022 12:31

Omg intoxicated man! I have it on vinyl.

Also menswear 😳

Namechange600 · 21/02/2022 13:10

@Frazzlerock how funny!! I can imagine it would not be the same if not at LA2!
Remember one night the DJ played song 2 by Blur and everyone went so wild they played it again! Good times ☺️☺️

Frazzlerock · 21/02/2022 13:15

Oh it was at LA2 @amechange600. Can't have been much before they knocked it down though. Yeah he often played it twice, I clearly remember leaping off the stairs at the back at 'woohoo!' Grin

Namechange600 · 21/02/2022 13:33

Oh shame! @Frazzlerock can imagine not the same at the height of the britpop movement.
Was sad to see it get knocked down.
Used to go to gigs too at Brixton Academy.

Namechange600 · 21/02/2022 13:33

Grin at jumping off the stairs at woohoo!!

Loads of 90s bands touring this year.

Feeder, Skunk Anansie, Supergrass, Beck, Ash, Placebo

Somethingsnappy · 21/02/2022 14:13

Belly, anyone? Smile

RJnomore1 · 21/02/2022 14:15

Tanya Donnelly wasn’t it?

Mollysocks · 21/02/2022 14:20

Yes!! I wanted to be Shirley Manson and tried to dress like her and everything. Garbage really appealed to my teen angst phase.

I still listen to bands I loved in the 90s. I loved grunge like Pearl Jam, Sound Garden and Nirvana and also I was also a massive lover of Brit pop and had all the Shine albums if anyone remembers them!

I managed to meet Ash, Terrorvision and Reef at gigs.

I’ve recently got into vinyls and have just bought Eels - Novocaine for the Soul and Massive Attack - Blue Lines 😀 Can’t wait for them to arrive!

Somethingsnappy · 21/02/2022 15:16

My Life Story

CuntAmongstThePigeons · 21/02/2022 15:50

Ahhhh love this thread! So nostalgic. Yes to whoever said afterschool - always used to go to after school.

Also what was the one at koko? I remember going to lots of indie nights at koko.

Classica · 21/02/2022 15:53

@Somethingsnappy

Belly, anyone? Smile
Funnily enough listened to them recently for the first time since the 90s I think. Feed the Tree is a great song, and the lyrics were still all there rattling around in my noggin!
Classica · 21/02/2022 15:56

I don't think Afghan Whigs have been mentioned. I think they're a really underrated 90s band, and they're head and shoulders above many of their Seattle contemporaries. Pearl Jam were so popular but man such a boring band!

VioletCharlotte · 21/02/2022 16:02

I still listen to loads of bands from the 90's still...Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Ocean Colour Scene, the Lemonheads, Suede, REM, the Charlatans, Prodigy, Radiohead, Oasis... the 90's were the best!

alldressedupinblue · 21/02/2022 18:38

Have we covered my top loves?

  • Long Pigs
  • Wedding Present
  • Divine Comedy
Somethingsnappy · 21/02/2022 19:06

@Classica, Feed the tree is a brilliant song!

Classica · 22/02/2022 20:18

I've just read that Mark Lanegan died today. So sad. He'd survived so much I thought he was pretty much indestructible.

That voice Sad

Spudina · 22/02/2022 20:54

I was a massive Pulp fan. I miss them.
I also loved Garbage, Portishead, Alanis Morrisette, Cardigans, Bjork, Shakespeare’s Sister, Roxette (80s to 90s do they count?) So many. The 90s was the best.

Kenworthington · 22/02/2022 21:07

Mega city four
Chumbawamba
Ned’s atomic dustbin
Frank and walters
The wonder stuff
Ahhh the 90s indie scene the absolute best music in the world.

fortheloveofcheesecake · 22/02/2022 21:10

Not so well know but I liked Llama Farmers. And all of the already mentioned bands...take me back to the 90's! Grin
