So trying to make my work afternoon go quicker and listen to some music, so up pops the band Garbage from the 90's, how could I forget how bloody brilliant they were especially Stupid Girl! Anyone agree?

My 6 year old DD is madly into 90s girl bands, Garbage, No doubt, Skunk Anansie and of course the perennial favourite of pre-school children Hole. Thank you Captain Marvel soundtrack!

This is such good timing. I started making a list of my fave 90's songs, then got stuck. Will use this thread as inspiration and make a playlist.

Best era for music, brings back great memories. Thank you for this.

My partner and I are introducing our 4 year old to the soundtrack of our teens via the repeats of 90s Top of The Pops currently on BBC4 / iPlayer

Foreverbaffled · 19/02/2022 07:56

@247SylviaPlath

I’m so glad it’s not just me who is stuck in the 90’s…

Eels still around by the way - seen them a couple of times in last few year’s and they’re as amazing as ever…Mark Oliver Everett is my #1 crush…

Ah Mr E! My biggest love and always will be ❤️
Lifeisbeautiful01 · 19/02/2022 08:37

Love this thread! Never prouder than when my daughters are blasting out ‘Ladykiller’ by Lush and know all the words!
I’ll never understand why there aren’t indie discos for the over 45s in every town. There would be wall to wall old farts on the dance floor, all channelling their inner Brett!

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 19/02/2022 09:07

I loved the 90s for music!

So many amazing female vocalists too:

Belly
Pixies
Breeders
L7
Hole
PJ Harvey
Verucca Salt

...to name a few

asocialistvalentine · 19/02/2022 09:16

Lovely bit of nostalgia to wake up to on a Saturday morning! Pulp, James, Placebo, Radiohead, Embrace, Blur, Skunk Anansie, Cranberries, Levellers, Bjork, Jamiroquai and Manic Street Preachers are still bands I listen to on a regular basis.

Not to mention the American ones like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica.

wanders off to create a favourite hits of the 90s playlist

@Yourownpersonaljesus pretty sure I did Feet First. Also Collide-a-scope at the top of Kings College (smoke alarms!), Popscene at LA2, After School Club at LSE, and Where It's At which I think was at Samantha's? Oh and Bedrock at Metro

Piemam · 19/02/2022 19:38

@Lifeisbeautiful01, my inner Brett would scare 'em all off! Grin

notprincehamlet · 19/02/2022 20:08

Super Furry Animals. I was going to post, on the things-you're-sad-you'll-never-do-again thread, listen to a new SFA album. Take me back to the 90s

Looks like you might be a bit younger than me @Frazzlerock. My clubbing days were more the early 90s. It's funny that you mention LSE though as that's where DD is currently studying - she has terrible taste in music sadly Grin.

AmberGer · 19/02/2022 22:09

Garbage were brilliant, I also loved push it and I think I'm paranoid.
Born in the 80's and grew up in the 90's.

Mirrorball2022 · 20/02/2022 08:57

Love this thread! Loved 90 music ( still do tbh) I’m 42, nearly 43. Spent my teens in the 90s it was amazing. From boy bands/pop into indie/Brit pop and rock/heavy dance bands I had a ball discovering music and going to gigs and festivals in the mid to late 90s they were cheap and cheerful and so simple in comparison to now . No social media and instant online photos to worry about, no pressure to pump your lips up or have fillers, brilliant memories.
