For me it's horse riding. Haven't actually ridden in years but I used to love it and always thought I'd go back to it.

Now too old and scared of falling and it makes me really sad Sad

Anyone else?

I'd love to have just one more walk with my beautiful old labrador dog. It will never happen as he died in 2019 at the age of 15. 😞

Same applies to my cocker spaniel, who died last October aged 16.😞

Have another baby, I think.
I like the idea of another, as apart from terrible sickness I did enjoy being pregnant, and I loved having a tiny baby.

But at the end of the day I’m a single mum who would rather lick a dead seal than go back with my ex, and I have no interest in dating again. Plus it’s not financially viable.

And I like having one child, because I feel that’s something I can manage to give 100% to in a way that I don’t think I personally could with two. And I can tell him he’s my favourite with no worries. Wink

Hang out with my children when they were primary school age - especially our family holidays. We were so broke, everything was on a shoestring and we had such good times. I really miss that parenting stage (although happy to see the back of babies, toddlers and teens Grin). But I don't despair, because if I am very lucky I'll get to be a granny and I won't be like the hands-off types on Mumsnet - I'll be right in there Grin

I am well into my 50s and I plan to back & bring on my 2 year old Arab, so don't give up on horseriding - I plan to be riding a horse on the day I die (admittedly that means the Arab youngster may be the death of me....Grin).

vixeyann · 18/02/2022 15:34

Lots! Speak to my dad, horse ride or run as have been diagnosed with a brain/spine problem and go to a pub or nightclub without feeling horrendously past it!

HappyStep1 · 18/02/2022 15:34

@boobearandme

Hug my beautiful mum
Oh yes, miss her terribly Flowers
TheRealHousewife · 18/02/2022 15:34

Run a marathon
Ride my bike
Walk the Pennine Way
Dance like no ones watching
The list goes on ....

Spinal cord injury sucks but better than becoming paraplegic (which was very much on the cards)!

Go to a party (not including weddings) without camera phones.

aloe987 · 18/02/2022 15:36

Care free, reckless living. Usually consisted of sitting on a beach with friends and LSD. I'm now a middle aged suburban mum so i stick to legal drugs like gin Grin

bedheadedzombie · 18/02/2022 15:36

Ice skating. Too scared I'll break my wrist again.

McClary111 · 18/02/2022 15:37

Sitting and chatting to my grandparents. I know they loved me so much and I miss them every day. I’m so lucky to have had them for the time I did. My heart will always be a little broken.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 18/02/2022 15:37

Have another baby. Just cant afford another and age is not on my side.

Be 23, dancing to The Smiths in a dive bar in NYC. The city has changed beyond recognition from my heyday there.

godmum56 · 18/02/2022 15:39

@LizBennet

A lot of knees mentioned in this thread. It's the piece of advice I'll be passing onto the younger generation, be gentle on your knees! 👵
I trashed mine going thigh deep in a mud hole walking dogs!

yes, the New Orleans I visited and loved in the 70's no longer exists
Christmas1988 · 18/02/2022 15:40

Carry another baby
Go ice skating (worried about falling)

Juliauns91 · 18/02/2022 15:43

Riding an old Suzuki GSX 1100 at speed.
-If I came off a bike now I would not bounce like before.

Falling in love.
-I'm with my last love, DH. if I lost him, I would never do it again. This is it for me.

Mountaineering.

-My knees have lost their spring

Being basically comfortable in life.
-No coming back from post Covid financial devastation for me. Career over, no longer young and doing odd jobs.

Having friends.
-I let them go as looking after sick DH and DM who is over 80 out in the countryside. I miss having friends. No money to go anywhere or see them.

Skyeheather · 18/02/2022 15:44

Get pregnant and have another baby - I loved being pregnant and would love another baby but I'm too old now and we have room and no money for another 😭

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 18/02/2022 15:44

Hug my great Aunt, who was more of a mum to me than anyone, lived just over the road from me growing up, was so so softly spoken, a beautiful soul- I can hear her voice in my head. I wish I could have just one last visit, one last chatter, just one more time.

ExactlyThat · 18/02/2022 15:45

Be pregnant, Have a baby / toddler.

Verbena17 · 18/02/2022 15:45

Buy baby clothes.
I had previously also thought horse riding but once I’ve lost some weight, I plan to get back to riding.

LizBennet · 18/02/2022 15:45

I think my knees are knackered due to general wear and tear, but man they feel 20 years older than the rest of me 🙁

iloveeverykindofcat · 18/02/2022 15:46

@MelaniaFlump

Have a baby.

Do creative things in a medium-crap way. A thing I never really appreciated as a schoolchild/student is how many opportunities there are to sing, act, play an instrument. Etc etc without actually being all that good. Once you’re out in the world, people expect actual talent! No one wants to hear grade 4 piano from a 40yo Wink

Hey now, no need to think that! Speaking as a lifelong musician of middling accomplishment, most music teachers love adult students because adult students actually practice! Plus I guarantee you that grade 4 on piano, guitar, or any other standard instrument sounds relatively impressive to most people, unless you're claiming to be an elite professional or something. Besides which, even professional musicians still take lessons. Or they do if they're any good.

Be someones Grandma

2DemisSVP · 18/02/2022 15:50

Can’t believe this has come up today …. I decided to get back into a sport, and ruined my back. Have been in agony and off work all week feeling very old. Used to be properly committed to sport, feel like that’s long gone. Saw physio today, told him all the issues (this injury was just the straw that broke my back, never mind the camel). And he’s come up with a plan that I think I can do, and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. He was very encouraging snd I’m going after it. So, this morning I’d have been sad about my sport and fitness. But this afternoon I’ve got a goal. So just to say, if you can find someone who can help coach you (mentally or physically, depends on goal) maybe some things aren’t out of reach quite yet. I ruled myself out of lots of things since kids born, and I’m just now realising I didn’t need to do that. So, hoping to convert the optimism into some strength and fitness.

Juliauns91 · 18/02/2022 15:51

@HazelBite

Be someones Grandma
Ditto. I'm not even anyone's mother :(
