Is Wink Murder still a thing?

Justjoinedforthis · 13/02/2022 15:03

This was one of my favourite games in Primary School, and my 6 year old has a birthday coming up...is this game still played, or would people kick up a stink about it being a 'murder/killing' game?

Wink
trumpisagit · 13/02/2022 15:04

I think the murder bit is fine, but can 6 year olds wink?

Groovee · 13/02/2022 15:05

In brownies we played tongue murder 😂

Great question - I assumed so but maybe not!

Yep, see Among Us

Ah is that where you stick your tongue out to kill someone? I like that very much.

My dc were playing what sounded to me like a digital version of wink murder the other day. I think it was on Roblox.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 13/02/2022 15:08

Yep. I'm a leader of a brownie pack and they love it!

Abraxan · 13/02/2022 15:08

Yes, it's played in our school, often as an end of day game in the classroom. The year 2s like it

Justjoinedforthis · 13/02/2022 15:09

Great thanks everyone

It's pretty much Among Us

Georgeskitchen · 13/02/2022 16:20

Never heard of it!! Can someone enlighten me?

autienotnaughty · 13/02/2022 17:13

I use to be lunchtime supervisor and I did wink murde with 8 years old.

ThePug · 13/02/2022 17:27

My son is in year 1 and apparently plays "winking witch" which from his description is the same game. So gets away from murdering anyone (I think the witch puts a spell on you to go to sleep)

Staggersaurus · 13/02/2022 17:29

My 10 year old and her friends love it! They played it for a ridiculous length of time last time there was a big group of them at our house. I couldn’t believe how long they play it for Shock

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 13/02/2022 18:11

We used to do it at dinner parties (ages ago) but we called it Killer.

Shortpoet · 13/02/2022 18:17

DD said they played it at school recently and she got a house point for most dramatic death!

freetorunwild · 13/02/2022 18:19

I work in a school and we play this all the time, the children love it! ☺️

underneaththeash · 13/02/2022 18:23

I run a brownies unit - we like that one....and splat!

forcedfun · 13/02/2022 18:24

My daughter plays it at theatre school sometimes, but I haven't come across it at parties etc, but then people mainly have trampolining /climbing/bowling type parties

Kite22 · 13/02/2022 18:37

Yes, I've played it with Cubs and with Beavers but it is incredibly funny watching some 6 year olds trying to wink Grin

SquishySquirmy · 13/02/2022 18:37

"Among us" has been very popular amongst my dc (a little older than yours) and extended family (especially over lockdown) and that is basically fancy wink murder on a computer! So I think would be OK, as long as the kids can wink... which mine couldn't at that age! Also may have trouble getting them to sit still and play long, but I dont think it is unsuitable/inappropriate imo.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/02/2022 18:49

My Brownies and Cubs love it.

When we had to hold them in the park due to covid restrictions, a leader bellowed out to be heard across the huge socially distanced circle "RIGHT CHILDREN, START MURDERING!" then realised what she's just said and how it would sound to a passing dog walker Grin

Finfintytint · 13/02/2022 18:53

Used to play that as a pub game in the eighties as a student. Bloody loved it. Need lots of people though.

autienotnaughty · 13/02/2022 19:22

@Georgeskitchen so one person is the detective, they leave the room. A murderer is agreed amongst remaining people. Everyone sits/stands in a circle the detective returns and has to try and figure who murderer is. The murderer will wink at people discreetly and they have to fall to ground. If murderer kills everyone before detective figures out they win.
