Or are you like my insane friend who will look at the menu tomorrow when we go for brunch and decide in the moment HmmWink

Also, how many mains is too many for brunch because I can’t decide between 3 full meals off the menu Grin

I do check as have dietary requirements. Also because I love food and want to spend time looking forward to it!

Badoukas · 12/02/2022 20:10

No, cos I'll eat anything, anytime, anywhere!

MadrigalCorp · 12/02/2022 20:10

Yes I always check because I am a glutton and often get to the restaurant and want everything. So I can never decide quickly enough otherwise!

hugoagogo · 12/02/2022 20:10

I like to check they have something I can eat!

MrsJBaptiste · 12/02/2022 20:11

Always look on the day.

If we've booked to go somewhere then that's what we'll be eating so I'll have to find something I like. Therefore will decide on the day.

Icantremembermyusername · 12/02/2022 20:11

I can't cope with big menus. Went to Nandos once and was completely overwhelmed!
Always check in advance and have some idea of what i might want. Daily specials boards either terrify me or are spot on.
We went to a food court today - just for a coffee, - thank god, as there were so many different cuisines and meals on offer I thought my brain might implode, lol!
I meal plan weekly so I don't have to make daily choices.
N.B. I eat a wide range of foods and love cooking!

3luckystars · 12/02/2022 20:12

I never look beforehand, I might look to get a rough idea on prices but I would never decide on what to eat until the last second because how could you possibly know ahead of time what your stomach needs? That’s mad Ted.

DahliaMacNamara · 12/02/2022 20:12

I love to read menus. I'll read online menus for places that are hours away, just on the offchance I might be passing one day. Of course I look up the menu of somewhere I'm actually going.

RampantIvy · 12/02/2022 20:13

I will look at a menu to get a general idea of the sort of food they do, but as I am not fussy, not vegetarian or vegan, and have no allergies or other diet restrictions I don't have to scrutinise any menu for myself.

PPCD · 12/02/2022 20:13

I always check the menu in advance and yet I still suffer from food regret too often Sad

3luckystars · 12/02/2022 20:14

Also how I choose is ‘if after today the menu changed forever or the place closed down, what would I regret not trying’ and have that.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 12/02/2022 20:14

@Lindy2

I'll have a quick look to check the kind of things they do and to get an idea of the price ranges but I won't decide until the day.

What 3 mains are you deciding on? We'll help you choose. Grin

this restaurant

The breakfast burrito
Shakshuka
Bowl of pulled pork!

3luckystars · 12/02/2022 20:16

Shakshuka sounds good, I’ve never heard of it. That’s what I’d get!!

3luckystars · 12/02/2022 20:17

I used my earlier formula for deciding that.

Rockbird · 12/02/2022 20:18

Nah. Organic scrambled eggs with salmon every time.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/02/2022 20:19

@IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece I rather fancy the Steak sandwich! Or one of the chicken things...

suckingonchillidogs · 12/02/2022 20:22

I'm going out for brunch next Saturday and I've already decided what I'm having!

hellcatspangle · 12/02/2022 20:25

I always look in advance, especially at the puddings. If a place doesn't have decent puddings (must include a hot option such as crumble or sticky toffee pudding) I'm out.

Hobbes8 · 12/02/2022 20:26

Super mean to post an awesome menu for a restaurant in another country that we can’t go to.

Whatever you choose you should get a side of truffle fries cos they sound amazing.

Blossom64265 · 12/02/2022 20:29

I never used to look. Then I developed adult onset allergies. I scour those menus with a fine tooth comb trying to figure out if there is a dish I can order that won’t have anything without me having to ask. I hate asking because they are esoteric allergies so the server always gets this deer in headlights look and generally has no clue.

PurBal · 12/02/2022 20:29

Never check. Many places don’t publish their full menu anyway, just a sample.

ClariceQuiff · 12/02/2022 20:30

@3luckystars

Also how I choose is ‘if after today the menu changed forever or the place closed down, what would I regret not trying’ and have that.
If nothing leaps out at me as a must-try I go by:
  • what am I least likely to be able to find in another restaurant

and if all else fails

  • which dish would be most difficult for me to cook at home.

I will eat pretty much anything and don't have any allergies, so there's always something I can have on a menu, but I am disappointed by boring or limited menus.

Grin soz about that

Truffle is actually one of the 3 things I won’t eat Envy I HATE it!

I always check beforehand especially if I didn't choose the restaurant. I am a lone vegetarian in a sea of meat eaters and I like to make sure there is something that resembles an actual meal for me rather than going and just eating chips (which has happened more than you would think).

Ohdofuckofdear · 12/02/2022 20:34

I always check.

I have Ulcerative Colitis and for some sodding reason tons of restaurants have started putting ridiculous amounts of really hot spices into nearly everything they serve and I love spice but I can't eat it because of the UC.
