How is the lemon served at the table?

So imagine I'm serving a stack of crepe type pancakes. Sugar is in the naice serving sugar bowl - how are the lemons served? I usually juice them and decant into a small bowl with teaspoons on the side so each person sprinkles the juice as and when. But is it better to serve wedges of lemons instead or someway else?

Out of the jif bottle!

Excited101 · 12/02/2022 14:25

Naice little jug of freshly squeezed juice of course!

@HelloKeith

THE LEMON IS IN PLAY
😂
Maestrog · 12/02/2022 14:36

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Wedges here, stick forks in to squeeze them if you're worried about the mess.

SarahJessicaPorker · 12/02/2022 14:37

@TheHoptimist

Of course wrapped in muslin - half a lemon
Yes, this^^ is the naicest way of serving it imo.
PlanetNormal · 12/02/2022 14:38

I would cut them into wedges and chuck them on a plate, but I’m a pleb…

BeepBoopBop · 12/02/2022 14:38

Half lemons cut in a zigzag if no muslin available.

timeforteaforyouandme · 12/02/2022 14:39

How do you cut lemons in a zigzag without a garnish of finger?

JuliaSways · 12/02/2022 14:42

Cook usually sweves wedges wrapped in muslin on a silver platter.

Any other way is simply common.

JuliaSways · 12/02/2022 14:47

*serves.

PA's day off so I'm having to type my own comments.

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 12/02/2022 14:52

I think the word decant annoys me more than naice.

Pretentious notions.

I reckon we can get a rally of 19 going.

@StoneWallandRoses

Memories! A JIF lemon! Not seen one for years though no doubt they exist

caranations · 12/02/2022 15:47

@RosesAndHellebores

Do you decant the jar of Nutella into the crystal jam jar you got as a wedding present?
Of course not, don't be silly. You pipe it in swirls into mini ramekins.

Bottle of plastic lemon shaped lemon juice, tea spoon in the sugar bowl usually used for tea making sure it gets clumps of lemon juice in it rendering the whole thing useless for anything else other than pancakes that evening.... lots of grabby hands and stood around the hob cheering eachother on. That's my family pancake chaos :)) pancakes eaten stood up, rolled in sticky fingers and eaten steaming hot usually sharing one plate or two between us until everyone is stuffed.

Hotelhelp · 12/02/2022 15:55

Are you by any chance the breakfast setting poster?

StoneWallandRoses · 12/02/2022 23:24

I know I won't buy muslin specifically for this, that's a no Blush

LittleBearPad - pancakes won't only be served. Its for a brunch of sorts and I'll lay out lots of other bits and pieces to go alongside them.

I just could not work out how to serve the lemons. I'll most likely go with serving wedges and have cake forks on the side (thank you poster who suggested this).

I couldn't be arsed with all the faffing.
You'll get the sugar in the container its stored in, a spoon, and the bottle of lemon juice out of the fridge.

FunnyGoingsOn · 13/02/2022 00:08

I get the lemon and stab it with a chopstick and mush up the insides then squeeze the juice out the little hole.

I LOVE pancakes with sugar and lemon. I would like some right now.

In quarters, on the plate. Nothing less than quarters - impossible to squeeze.
