Bastard of a headache

God it hurts.

Started Thursday afternoon, progressively got worse and now it’s a full on migraine - I’ve taken solpediene (before bed last night and again this morning). I only ever resort to these bad boys when I’m desperate yet even they are not working.

I’m burning up too. Please send sympathy my way (or insults … anything to make me laugh and take my mind off it)

Keep a careful eye on it. Headache + temp could be an infection. Have you done LFT?

ShittyFingers · 12/02/2022 10:45

Yeah one last night and this morning, both negative 😫

The only thing that obliterates my hideous headaches is co-codomal.
I sympathise op, bad headaches/migraines are debilitating Sad

Migraleve or co codamol and can of coke.

Also neck and shoulder massage to get rid of tension.

I tie a scarf round my head when I have a migraine. No idea how it works, but it does.

If you have a temperature as well please look out for signs of meningitis. It's probably not, but don't forget the possibility.

Full sugar coke and 900mg soluble aspirin
(3 x 300mg)

gamerchick · 12/02/2022 11:03

I suffered a headache for 4 days this week. It was hell and tests were negative. I wanted to take my head off and run it under the tap. I wonder if there's something else going about. I put it down to a migraine but it didn't behave the way they usually do

Hope you feel better soon

ShittyFingers · 12/02/2022 11:05

I wonder what is causing it 😫 I feel like I should walk the dog just to cool down but I can’t stand up without my head throbbing

I get awful migraines. The main thing that helps is Sumitriptan which I get prescribed but you can get it over the counter. I agree with converseandjeans, can of Coke helps (has to be full sugar). I keep some in the fridge for when they occur. One other tip that can just take the edge off is to put my feet in warm water and have something cold on my head. The science behind it is that the blood rushes to your head when you have a migraine and it diverts from the extremities. Warm your feet up and it encourages blood flow there easing the pressure.
Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Can you put your chin to your chest?
Can you bear light in your eyes?

Opal8 · 12/02/2022 11:36

A sudden thunderclap headache is an emergency
Phone 111

Can you put your chin to your chest? Can you bear light in your eyes?
Yeah I can do all of those things. Just had some sugary rice crispies. Can’t stomach fizzy drinks.

It’s not a thunderclap, it’s one sided throbbing that has been coming on gradually since Thursday

Is it normal to burn up with migraine?

HelloKeith · 12/02/2022 11:52

@ShittyFingers

Is it normal to burn up with migraine?
It is with Covid. My DS had a burning temp, banging headache and negative LFTs. I had the headache but positive LFT. Both did PCRs, both positive. Solpadiene plus ibuprofen didn't touch the sides of the headache, only a cool pack helped. Don't discount covid.
Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 12/02/2022 11:52

Cooling your whole self down helps me. Cool shower. Don't dry off just lie wet on a towel on your bed. Window open and try nap.
Migraines for over 35 years....
Chocolate also helps me.

ShittyFingers · 12/02/2022 11:54

I can’t take a PCR as I had Covid in December

Opal8 · 12/02/2022 11:57

Opal8 · 12/02/2022 11:58

Can’t take PCR as I had Covid in December so it will still be positive anyway

Ah.
No other symptoms?
Visual issues?
Neck pain?
