Bastard of a headache

God it hurts.

Started Thursday afternoon, progressively got worse and now it’s a full on migraine - I’ve taken solpediene (before bed last night and again this morning). I only ever resort to these bad boys when I’m desperate yet even they are not working.

I’m burning up too. Please send sympathy my way (or insults … anything to make me laugh and take my mind off it)

I don't want to to worry you but a severe headache that doesn't go after pain relief and a fever needs medical evaluation.

What is your temp? If its 39.5 or over phone 111

I burn with my migraines. It's horrific.

You need a triptan, not paracetamol etc. If you aren't already prescribed them, you can buy some at a pharmacy - it's call sumatriptan. It's all there is to stop a migraine, but you may be too far in to the attacks for it to work but it's worth a go!

I had Covid in December OP and thought it had come back last week as I had the most horrendous headache. I had to come home from work early and just sleep it off twice...... it's now turned into a horrid snotty head cold with really blocked sinuses. Thankfully the headache is now lower level and staved off with paracetamol.

Soluble co-codamol is your friend here. And maybe an anti-histamine.

20 yrs of hemi plegic migraines here...

Triptans don't work for everyone and in my case am not allowed them as the HP migraines mean I'm a stroke risk.

Aspirin is the easiest medication to get hold of and is very effective

You can have another pcr for new symptoms

I had a headache this time around with covid

Opal8 · 12/02/2022 12:08

So may people being reinfected atm

Theunamedcat · 12/02/2022 12:09

Anyway have you rotated your neck to see if it clicks? I get one sided headache when my neck isn't sitting right?

Have you taken a temperature or do you just "feel" like your burning up?

Anniissa · 12/02/2022 12:12

Seems to be something going round at the moment as have had several people at work go down with similar symptoms - migraine like headache, temperature, sinus pain, fatigue etc which then often becomes a snotty cold. Multiple tests (LFT and PCRs variously) all negative for Covid.

RoRoYoYo · 12/02/2022 12:12

If you have symptoms you do need a PCR test regardless of whether or not you had covid in December. It won't necessarily come back positive if you are negative. My DH had covid in December and a negative PCR for travel at the start of January. Hope you feel better soon.

This

I had a headache for the whole of January. Negative LFTs throughout. Took strong pain killers & did the best I could on days I had to work; rested every minute when not working - proper bed rest & duvet days. It was worst in my temples & sometimes across my head like heavy earphones! When I bent forwards pressure pain flooded into my forehead. It finally went a couple of weeks ago. I definitely think there was a virus going round - other than the Covid one.

Sympathies, migraines are the worst, I pop a couple of anadin extra when I feel one coming on but they don't always touch it. Usually have to resort to bed with an ice pack from the freezer and wait for it to go, mine generally last three days.
