I always end up staying up too late just to get some time to myself. I know I should sleep, but I just want some chill time. Does anyone else do this too?

Yep I do. Except lately the preschooler won’t go to bed Unless I do. Then she talks my ear off until she passes out.

Fandangoes · 11/02/2022 00:30

Me! And I don’t even have young children any more!

Birkenshock · 11/02/2022 00:30

"Revenge bedtime procrastination" it's called. I do it every night. I'm a single parent of 3 kids under 7 who works full time. By rights, I should be utterly exhausted. But I'm never in bed before 1am ever because the evenings are the only time I get for me.

Dontlooksup · 11/02/2022 00:31

Me!

Ohlalaohlala · 11/02/2022 00:32

Guilty, then I’m tired in the morning.

Monopolyiscrap · 11/02/2022 00:35

Yes I get to bed at 1 am too. Every morning I regret it.

Oh yes that’s me, I hear you. I work in hospitality and get in 11pm ish, 4 nights a week. I love it when everybody is in bed, just so I can have time to myself. Have a mini bottle of fizz., watch friends, clear my head. The nights I’m home are footy / beavers / swimming. School pick up, snacks, lifts, cooking. Help with studying / homework/ sorting washing / school stuff for next day.
I’m trying to change my work hours so I get an extra evening at home as I’m not getting any quality time with the dc, but in reality it’s going to mean even less time for me.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 11/02/2022 00:35

I do. It's my quiet time and I've always been a night owl.

burblish · 11/02/2022 00:38

Me, all the time. It’s so unhealthy but I can’t help it - I need that me time badly, even if have to rob myself of sleep to get it.

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 11/02/2022 00:43

Generally the only adult time in our house where you probably won’t get interrupted is 12-1am, when I normally go sleep. Before that there’s always teenagers crashing around and young children pondering the meaning of life when ideally they would be in bed.
It’s manageable as I’m still full time WFH so don’t get up until after 8.

mowly77 · 11/02/2022 00:45

Yep I really should be asleep

MarineBlue33 · 11/02/2022 00:46

Yep
Am yawning but don't like getting ready for bed

BobbyBleu · 11/02/2022 00:48

Yep me too, I'm yawning but so enjoy the time on my own when everyone is asleep. I will be like a zombie in the morning!

Thunderface · 11/02/2022 00:49

That's why I'm up now! I have young teenagers in the house. I crave the peace and quite I get at this time. I need a couple of hours to unwind.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/02/2022 00:50

Yup. That’s what I’m doing right now.

DramaAlpaca · 11/02/2022 00:56

Yes, every night.

RoyKentsChestHair · 11/02/2022 01:00

Yea me too! Sometimes 3-4am Blush but I work for myself so I just shift my whole day a few hours later. About to start a 9-5 job and concerned it will be such a shock that I’ll end up sleeping in!

RoyKentsChestHair · 11/02/2022 01:01

Daft thing is my kids are all teens so I’m generally on my own all evening anyway. Think I just like to stretch out that last bit of free time before it’s tomorrow again.

MonsterRehab23 · 11/02/2022 01:03

Oh god yes. Regret it every morning though

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 11/02/2022 01:03

Hello! I don't start until 10am at the earliest. I can be dead on my feet but too stubborn to go to bed, it's a terrible habit that I need to break.

Anotherbrokenairer · 11/02/2022 01:10

Yep me...every night.

VivX · 11/02/2022 01:13

Yes. Most nights. Always been an owl. Mornings are a killer.

HootOwl · 11/02/2022 01:26

🙋🏻‍♀️😕

There are not enough hours jn the day to do what I have to do, let alone what I want to do. And I need time to myself or I will go insane, so I sacrifice sleep for that because the day is not long enough for me to do what is required of me plus sleep a healthy amount. I get more exhausted every month.

The only way I can see to fix it is to go and live on Venus. The temperature and poisonous gases would suck, but the 116 Earth-day long days plus the diamond rainfalls would be nice!

HootOwl · 11/02/2022 01:27

@VivX

Yes. Most nights. Always been an owl. Mornings are a killer.
They should be banned.
Monopolyiscrap · 11/02/2022 01:31

I have to start work at 9 am tomorrow, but still up. I worked today as always, made tea for everyone, went out for a drink with some friends, came home and spent till after midnight tidying and doing housework. I just needed some time to myself. DP always says well you had chill time with friends. But I need silent time to myself.
