Fill me full of your favourite facts. The more obscure, the better!

My favourite all time fact is that two halves of a supermarket sandwich are never from the same sandwich and are each another half of another pair. Unbelievable.

I met a grown man who didn't know peanuts grew underground recently too, which pleased me.

Enlighten me further!

@SchoolRunEscapee

Since the 70's, no human has been beyond low earth orbit, which at its maximum is 620 miles into space. The moon is 238,885 miles away.
I honestly don't believe we went to the moon. When I look at the facts it is just impossible

The Eurythmics had 9 top ten hits. No two songs peaked at the same position. The only position they failed to achieve is No. 7 (they also had one number 11 hit and one number 12 hit, too)

@PinaColadaNeeded

Mick Jagger sung backing vocals on Carly Simons' hit 'You're So Vain'....once you hear it you can't unhear it!
Shock I was like "there are no backing vocals on You're So Vain", but I've just listened to it and sure enough there is Mick Jagger. Shock

I didn't know the order of the alphabet for years, because I couldn't get it to fit the tune right.

I remember my piano teacher, when I was 7, bring aghast when she asked if I knew my alphabet, and I replied:"no".

She thought she was asking me if I could read.

There are marine snakes, or sea snakes, seen regularly in the waters around northern New Zealand when warm subtropical currents carry them south from out of the tropics. Maybe the pigeons have seen the marine snakes 😆

LoisLane66 · 12/02/2022 10:46

Dogs can't bark or bite while having a poo.

LoisLane66 · 12/02/2022 10:51

Robert Maxwell had a minder whose job it was to always check whether his boss had a Rimmel powder compact in his jacket pocket. He never went out without it. He also always went barefoot indoors.

KittenKong · 12/02/2022 10:53

[I have an extra vertebrae… maybe I’m actually part snake?]

Vending machines kill 4 times more people every year than sharks

Tempusfudgeit
Woolly mammoths still walked the Earth whilst the pyramids were being built.

Competitive art used to be an Olympic sport

A chef's tall hat ( toque ) has exactly 100 pleats

A small blob of toothpaste on a toothbrush is called a nurdle

The cardboard sleeve that slips into coffee cups to help you pick the hot beverage up is called a zarf

Didn't they introduce mud throwing too? I seem to recall hearing that, in the early days, they wanted to encourage more African nations to take part - and they exercised their racist minds hard to think about what the Africans could relate to and have a chance at doing well in. Not that Africans are human or anything, of course, which would have meant they could run, jump, swim etc. Hmm

Having had a quick peek on the t'interweb, mud throwing was in luded in the 1904 games. It didn't involve any African nations as not many countries participated.

Have a read about the games, some interesting stuff I wasn't aware of ( and I'm a pub quiz anorak, so love useless info 😁👍 )

Some odd backing vocals. Sting on Money for Nothing by Dire Straits for a significant payoff. Jimmy Somerville on Fine Young Cannibals cover of Suspicious Minds.

Zilla1 · 12/02/2022 15:03

More cows are killed by humans than sharks too.

ThistlesAndUnicorns · 12/02/2022 15:10

@hopelessatthinkingupusernames

The National Animal of Scotland is the unicorn. Possibly because the unicorn is the enemy of the lion and England had already chosen the lion Grin
I at least knew this fact Grin
Zilla1 · 12/02/2022 15:21

HNRTT but has any Gary Oldman Gary Newman'd yet? And wingspan height of humans?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 12/02/2022 15:25

Talking of backing singers, it's much more widely known now, but for many years, most people didn't know that the uncredited female vocal on Meat Loaf's 'Dead Ringer For Love' was a little-known singer called.... Cher!

Zilla1 · 12/02/2022 15:25

Just seen p12 and p11.

whywouldntyou · 12/02/2022 15:28

@MissMaple82

No, that should be nose! 🙄
I just tried it (obviously) and you can't hum and hold your breath either!

You have to play polo (the horse one, not the water one) right handed.
