Hi. Please could you recommend your favourites west end musicals that will be showing in March, suitable for a (young) 12 yr old girl?
Thanks!

Matilda is fabulous if it’s still running?

waterlego · 08/02/2022 19:55

Six! Absolutely brilliant and perfect for a girl that age, I reckon. My DS(13) and DD(16) loved it, as did I.

frick · 08/02/2022 19:55

DD really enjoyed Matilda. Her favourite is Wicked - she saw it when she was about 9 but would be suitable for older. Is very slightly scary - depending on how sensitive your DD is!
Enjoy! 😊

SIX has been a huge hit for that age. More of a concert than a musical though.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/02/2022 19:58

We took our Guides to see Wicked and they loved it.

coronabeer · 08/02/2022 19:59

Mary Poppins. Really enjoyable with a couple of real "Wow!" moments. Went with DDs 1 and 2 who were, I think, 19 and 14 at the time.

Quartz2208 · 08/02/2022 19:59

Six/Wicked and & Juliet are all good

SkepticalCat · 08/02/2022 20:01

Back to the Future is incredible.

EvilPea · 08/02/2022 20:03

Back to the future is just amazing. Honestly. So brilliant. It has its own little plot from the film. Its excellent.

JimHowicksPatTash · 08/02/2022 20:04

We saw Back the the Future at the weekend and it was just amazing!

StormInACoffee · 08/02/2022 20:07

Wow thank you so much for the quick replies. I was wondering about Wicked so great to hear the good reviews. I am going to look up Six now too.
Back to the Future is a great one too, she loved the film.
Thanks so much.

My youngest is 11 and has enjoyed previously Mary Poppins, Six, Wicked and Matilda. She was desperate to see Phantom but the show we booked was cancelled due to covid. We saw Beauty and the Beast this weekend which was amazing but isn’t in London until June iirc

Cissyandflora · 08/02/2022 20:09

Hamilton.
The best show ever produced.

Firefliess · 08/02/2022 20:09

DD really enjoyed Wicked, and also Harry Potter, the Lion King and Les Miserables

WouldIBeATwat · 08/02/2022 20:11

I’m taking DD (11) to Come From Away.

(Have seen Matilda twice, Wicked, Lion King)

We took 11yo and 14yo to &Juliet a couple of weeks ago, the loved it and the staging was beautiful as were costumes, really interesting with strong female leads. Dd also saw Matilda aged 11 (now 14) she says she loved Matilda but preferred &Juliet

22Giraffes · 08/02/2022 20:22

Another vote for Six! Me and dd have seen it 3 times Grin

CleanHankie · 08/02/2022 20:33

We've just been to see Six and although DD2 (age 12) liked it, there are some innuendos and sexual gestures so aimed at a little older and she says she much preferred Matilda which we saw last year.
Wicked is great but as the seating is in line with the seat in front and not slightly offset, coupled with a gentle rake, it's not the best show for those slightly shorter.

Not sure if you were aware but London Theatres have their New Year Sale still running in March so discounted seats for certain shows. Worth looking at officiallondontheatre.com/new-year-sale/

Newuser82 · 08/02/2022 20:35

I think six, Matilda or wicked.

CraftyGin · 08/02/2022 20:35

I was in London today and saw ads for Back to the Future

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 08/02/2022 20:36

Six!! Took my DD and her cousin (9) to see if for DD's 10th birthday and they both loved it.

PyjamaMamma · 08/02/2022 20:42

DD is also 12 and obsessed with Hamilton. She also enjoyed Wicked, Matilda and School of Rock but was younger when she watched those.

RitaJosephina · 08/02/2022 20:45

The Lion King is amazing.

Jumpingintomenopause · 08/02/2022 20:47

DD 11 has loved Hamilton, Wicked, Lion King, Mama Mia and Matilda in recent years.
