Is it scone rhyming with Joan or scone rhyming with John ?
Do you have cream then jam or jam then cream ?

Mine rhymes with John and definitely more delicious jam then cream

Picture obsolete as they didn't last a full minute !

Scone with John in our house accept for dd.
Jam first then clotted cream
Raspberry jam is the prefered option but black cherry is acceptable!

Esssa · 05/02/2022 20:13

Definitely not! It's Joan, cream then jam!

SomeOwlsCoo · 05/02/2022 20:14

Scone to rhyme with John.
Cream first for me.
DS does one half each way because he can't decide which is nicer Grin

YABU YABU YABU!
I’m going to report you OP for such a nasty remark.
😂

Noisyprat · 05/02/2022 20:48

The problem is that it’s hard to put jam ON cream but easy to load up on cream on jam Smile

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 05/02/2022 20:52

To rhyme with John
Otherwise you can't make the fastest cake joke.

I don't really like cream so I usually just have butter then jam, but if in an unusual incident I was FORCED to eat them with cream, I would use the cream as a sort of butter substitute layer, and then liberally apply jam on top.

I find the oppositeGrin

I wonder what trivial things people living elsewhere argue about Grin

Bagelsandbrie · 05/02/2022 20:53

We (dd and I) say scone rhymes with cone.

Dh says scone rhymes with gone.

He’s an idiot. Of course.

NannyR · 05/02/2022 20:53

Scone rhymes with john. It depends what sort of cream, if it's clotted cream then that goes first and jam on top. If it's softer, whipped cream (sacrilege, I know!) then it's jam first.

Georgeskitchen · 05/02/2022 20:54

I wouldn't know either way because they never stay on the plate long enough for a debate 🤣🤣

ParkheadParadise · 05/02/2022 20:55

Scone rhymes with Gone.

Sometimes I have it toasted with real butter or Raspberry jam. Only like plain sconces.

Ikeptgoing · 05/02/2022 20:56

Scone as in cone

Scone, jam then clotted cream on top- the Cornish way . (Besides you get too thick a dollop of jam if is put on last as you can't spread it out even a bit)

Noisyprat · 05/02/2022 20:58

Oh dear, whipped cream and scone cannot be mentioned in the same sentence. You can only eat a Joan with clotted cream 🤣

EmmaGrundyForPM · 05/02/2022 20:59

It's scone (to rhyme with Joan) til you've eaten it, and then it's scone (to rhyme with John)

I'll get my coat....

Oh, I know! But some (very inferior) cafes serve them with a little pot of whipped cream😕

Why can't I make scones? I follow recipes but absolutely no luck.
Scones rhyme with John.

Heytheredemons · 05/02/2022 21:14

Scone to rhyme with stone in our house

MaizeAmaze · 05/02/2022 21:15

Rhymes with John. But I'm a heathen who only puts mountains of salted butter on the scone straight from the oven. No jam unless it's a scone more than about 30 mins old, and absolutely no cream of any type.

JudgeRindersMinder · 05/02/2022 21:17

John obvs (is this a Scottish pronunciation?)
