Is it scone rhyming with Joan or scone rhyming with John ?
Do you have cream then jam or jam then cream ?

Mine rhymes with John and definitely more delicious jam then cream

Picture obsolete as they didn't last a full minute !

@Anotherboy

Joan Butter, STRAWBERRY jam, cream!
This! Obviously.
captainmajor · 05/02/2022 22:08

Ooops quite a bun fight type of debate 😀

I like them fresh out of the oven but tonight's was made yesterday and microwaved for 30 secs to warm it , then strawberry jam and clotted cream
I do like blackcurrant jam as well but the strawberry is favoured by DP so that's what we opened yesterday when I made them
( he's also team John / jam / cream )

Gosh for me it’s scone and Joan, cream and then jam… I find it easier to put the jam on top of the cream 🤣

Scone - Joan

I sometimes have jam then cream, sometimes cream then jam. I'm a maverick.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 05/02/2022 22:33

John
Butter
Strawberry jam
Cream
Coffee
😋

Pinkginlover · 05/02/2022 22:36

I say scone to rhyme with John.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/02/2022 22:58

Scone to rhyme with John, as in Betjeman.Wink

Neurodiversitydoctor · 06/02/2022 08:13

Just all of them. Have to be homemade though and ideally DH's strawberry jam.Grin

HPLikecraft · 06/02/2022 09:05

@FatFilledTrottyPuss

John Butter Strawberry jam Cream Coffee 😋
This! You are my scone twin, Fat!
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/02/2022 09:21

Rhymes with Joan here.
No cream at all, thanks, just butter and jam. (Yes, I know I’m weird.)
And preferably cheese scones, with butter, but not like the one I had at a NT cafe - if it had even been shown a bit of cheese, that must have been it.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/02/2022 09:40

I had a very nice 'savoury cream tea' when on holiday last year - cheese scone, cream cheese and chutney. That had to be cream cheese first, chutney on top as the former couldn't be dolloped on like cream onto jam.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/02/2022 09:42

Scone made by Joan.
Jan spread on and cream plopped on.

VeronicaBeccabunga · 06/02/2022 09:57

Scone - Joan
Cream then jam

And the best and simplest recipe, that never fails or fails to impress is the cheat's 3 ingredient version:

BooksAndHooks · 06/02/2022 10:11

Scone to rhyme with Stone. Cream first to act as the butter then jam on top.

thegcatsmother · 06/02/2022 10:13

Scone rhymes with John. Jam first, then dollops of clotted cream.

PrettyBluebells · 06/02/2022 10:18

John for me and dc
Joan for dh

Jam then cream for us all

It's bad enough dh says Joan, if he put cream then jam it would tip the scales into divorce!

ShowOfHands · 06/02/2022 10:23

Team, it doesn't matter what you call them or how you serve them. People know what you mean and it tastes no different whether it's jam or cream first. There's also nothing remotely weird about having butter and jam only or preferring cheese scones.

sqirrelfriends · 06/02/2022 12:37

Joan and cream first with strawberry (raspberry under duress) jam on top.

ITSupport · 06/02/2022 12:41

John

Cream then jam - easier to spread jam over cream than vice versa

PostThenGhost · 06/02/2022 12:48

John

Jam first.
I have no clue how people spread the much stiffer jam onto the softer cream.

jimmyreckon · 06/02/2022 12:50

John and like pp don't understand how you spread jam on cream so jam (obvs) goes first.

I normally slice them into 3 so you get a higher jam and cream to scone ratio.

Dp the weirdo toasts his

ITSupport · 06/02/2022 14:27

If you have a good clotted
Cream it’s usually thicker than the jam!

Snowonthehills · 06/02/2022 14:29

John
Butter
Raspberry jam
No cream thanks

SomeOwlsCoo · 06/02/2022 14:43

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I thought I was going mad!
