I’m doing CAFOD’s Walk Against Hunger Miss 200k in 40 days.

SmellyOldOwls · 03/03/2022 11:22

Thank you @MissConductUS
My son is going to afterschools today for the first time. He's only 4 and I hope he doesn't get upset that he's not getting home at his usual home time.

MissConductUS · 03/03/2022 14:28

Smelly, how did it go? It's always a bit nerve racking when they try new things. Is he your first?

I have had an afternoon if delivering food to elderly family members and also family friends. Somehow, I have ended up with more food than I delivered. Neighbour gave me some food that tasted just like how my mum used to make it - it’s a right faff to make so mum had t made it for decades before she died so it really took me back.

Spudlet · 03/03/2022 16:08

I hope your DS was ok Smelly 😊

It’s a lovely day here today, realty Spring-like. I managed a run this morning! Had an abortive appointment this morning due to the presence of a contraindication requiring medical permission, then a nice long gap to my next one so I got some admin done. Now having a sit down before my evening appointment later on.

Hope your arms feel better soon Silkie - sore arms when you side sleep are such a pain as you inevitably roll onto them in your sleep and wake yourself up 🙈

Good luck with your walk, Helena!

Nydj · 03/03/2022 16:14

silkies, as Love said, hearing aids do take a bit of getting used to and should be wiped down with a wet wipe every night. The weirdest thing for me was hearing my hair move! It takes a couple of weeks for your brain to learn to filter out a lot of noises that it has t need to filter out for a while because of hearing loss. Oh and itchy ears is also to be expected for a while but the aids really are wonderful when you get used to them.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/03/2022 17:09

DH remains at critical level sickness, while I (with identical symptoms) am still resolutely testing negative. DH's LFT turns positive before the liquid has even reached the control line, so appears unlikely he will be leaving the house anytime soon. This is infinitely more vexing as I'm now on annual leave and he'll just be shuffling round the house making small and increasingly plaintive coughs.

I have wondered whether we may have the same cold, and DH has got Covid on top which I am fighting off, so consequently testing negative.

It also looks like our house purchase might fall through, due to the utter intractability of the seller Hmm

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/03/2022 18:12

Still cold here.
I have agreed to go into the office on Monday to man the telephone and the mail accounts while everybody else is taking a bridge day, as the 8th is a public holiday in Berlin.

I am watching Katla.

Lemonsandlemonade · 03/03/2022 20:35

Sorry that your house sale might fall through @Champagneforeveryone

@Silkierabbit I too watched the tinder swindler last night it was good.

Nothing exciting here. Did Forest school today which was super the children get so much from it.

Silkierabbit · 03/03/2022 20:53

Sorry that your house purchase may fall through Champagne, hope can resolve it.

Mainly slept today, not felt hungry either which is strange but think its just nerves waiting for hospital results. My nerves were not helped by at 4pm an appointment appearing on 28th March with the chemo doctor, results are to see if need chemo or not and get on 7th. I phoned and they said it may mean nothing. Hmm Have felt fine from vaccine up until now, feel a bit woozy now but so much better than both my AZ ones. Just have 1 call tomorrow and 1 video call on Monday so can rest anyway.

DS is taking a bath, not sure what prompted a Thursday bath Shock

LoveFall · 04/03/2022 00:04

I just had 7 footstools delivered instead of the one I thought I had ordered. How tedious. This is the third time Amazon has sent me 7 of something instead of one. 7 packets of tea towels. 7 deodorants.

I started a thread in shopping but so far no sympathy. It must be a #7 gremlin in my tablet.

And yes I should have noticed!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/03/2022 00:09

7 is a magical number (see fairy tales) - the universe is trying to tell you something. If you start encountering talking animals or suddenly meet people who can spin straw to gold - take notice. Grin

LoveFall · 04/03/2022 00:40

DH is none too pleased and I don't blame him. But in my defense the little 7 under the picture the item is very small. But the total isn't. I will indeed pay more attention now..?

Maybe I will soon be able to work miracles.

mathanxiety · 04/03/2022 04:18

Sorry to hear of your house purchasing woes, Champagne.

DD4 made a really nice coffee cake with a crunchy cinnamon topping and 8 ozs of cream cheese in the batter (among other ingredients). So there goes Lent...

HelenaJustina · 04/03/2022 06:25

Rats about the house champagne hope the seller pulls their finger out soon.

I’ve never ordered 7 of something accidentally but I did once order an expensive personalised mug as a Baptism present, and put the wrong middle name on it. That was annoying.

Spudlet · 04/03/2022 08:03

Ah Silkie, sorry to hear about your lack of sleep and appointment woes. The waiting must be awful Flowers I have no sage advice, just support and a virtual hug to offer.

Champagne, ugh, house buying! So stressful Sad

Lovefalls How many people are in your house? You could have a footstool for every foot plus spares - so luxurious Grin

Spudpup is still a bit ill, but not sure if he needs the vet or not. He’s really chipper in himself and full of beans, he just keeps being sick 🙈 Then looking all hurt and offended at being given measly portions! He is drinking though, as far as I can tell. So who knows. Hopefully it’s just a little bug, like kids pick up now and then 🤷‍♀️

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/03/2022 09:16

I started repotting the indoor plants and discovered that I need additional pots 2 sizes up, so off I go.

ShoesOnFirstThenCar · 04/03/2022 10:27

Champagne hope the news about the house improves.

Silkie how annoying not to get a straight answer from your phone call

Lemons a friend of mine works for NRW and used to do the forest schools, said it was the bit of her job she enjoyed most. The kids love it.

I am trying to get hold of the cleaning company nominated by the council to provide a one off voucher for services they offer. Lady who works at the council managed somehow to talk those higher up into giving money to the families of special needs kids to use on ‘services or items for the home or short breaks or “use your imagination “ ‘ . The gentleman at the cleaning company said I might be interested in the deep clean which is 15hours 😮. I mean, I know my house is in need of a clean but what the hell!! I’m trying to get hold of him to talk him down to multiple shorter visits instead.
And just to add to the fun, I’m currently faced with a letter from my neuro team to talk about a change in medication. Very stressful. I’m now off to have a cup of tea and a biscuit, take my mind off it all Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/03/2022 13:19

Back with new pots, now waiting for DH to take a break so that we can decide if I go and get something to eat (simple noodle / rice dish) or if he decides to cook (broccoli, carrots, potatoes).

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/03/2022 14:32

@ShoesOnFirstThenCar yeah I love it I see children who are so under confident flourish at FSchool.

Feeling a bit down. I can’t articulate why. I have a work situation that I can’t explain coz it sounds like I’m moaning that my staff are too good.

MissConductUS · 04/03/2022 14:42

Unfortunately, it is still winter here. -9C when I went for a walk this morning. I'm not going to be potting plants for a while.

Champagne, what have the sellers done, increased the price?

Love, can you return them to Amazon? They're really good about returns here.

I've just finished staff reviews and annual salary increases. My boss ominously inquired about my retirement plans. It was my doing as I had mentioned it to someone at the meeting in Orlando. I assured him that it was unlikely to happen while DD still had two more years of uni that's costing us an eye watering amount of money.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/03/2022 14:57

My boss aleady mentioned that he is OK with me to work past 67 (most of the people who retired in recent years were back after 6 months).

I repotted the indoor plants, they are happy now. Tomorrow I will start to wake up my cacti.

LoveFall · 04/03/2022 15:09

I have been in touch with the seller of the stools. They have said yes, return them and not to worry.

They also said they have encountered the same thing a number of times. At least I am not the only idiot.

It is some glitch in the ordering system. Everyone keep a close eye on your orders. The number 7 is waiting to catch you out!

Champagneforeveryone · 04/03/2022 17:46

miss there's been an issue with damp in the property, partly age, partly the fact it's been vacant all winter and partly neglect. The seller is steadfastly refusing to budge in terms of paying for work (or contributing towards it) and is exceptionally grudgingly considering knocking money off of the price, though still trying to hassle us down on that. The amount we're asking knocks about £7 a month off of our mortgage so hardly life changing for us.

In other news, ChampagneCat's litter is back in big bags again Smile

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/03/2022 18:11

Tomorrow I will finally draw up the plan of my terasse - I am not very good at things like that. Temps. are up to 5°C at the moment and yesterday at around 17:00 h the sun reached the terrasse for the first time this year. The sun has to rise higher than a certain wall - which in summer houses swifts (? Mauersegler).
