A heavy storm happening here (and for once I was not outside), lots of rain and howling winds.
We've decided to get potting soil on Saturday - we will manage to get 5 times 40 l home via public transport (underground and bus). Irresponsible me would get a taxi, but DH "Hält's Gerschtle beisamm'" he thinks this is wasteful as our labour is free.

MissConductUS · 24/02/2022 23:10

Hi @Spudlet, lovely to see you again dear! 😊

Thanks for sharing your news and congratulations on finishing your course and marathon. All is good chez Conduct. I’m about to join a group for dinner at a Japanese restaurant.

Welcome back Spudlet Glad things are going well for you.

DD did eat nutella pancake in the end and has just came to tell me she found 17 year old Silkiecat on the floor downstairs, she had fallen off her cardboard box so DD put her back. She is very quiet and sleepy atm, ha just as I said that she called DH. Eating salmon fine though.

Just ordered some vit D supplements for the silkie and need to get new flooring put in there but will be a challenge as have to move out 2 sofas, 1 DS, 1 rabbit and 1 chicken first and cat lives in dining room and will not move and sofas do not fit through door as 500 year old cottage.

LoveFall · 25/02/2022 00:25

They have lingonberries in a jar, like a jam, at Ikea. I always get a jar when we are there, which is none too often lately.

We saw them in Finland at a farmers' market when we were there on our Baltic cruise. The best trip of my life. Even St. Petersburg.

mathanxiety · 25/02/2022 01:11

LoveFall are you able to order or buy Odom's 'Tennessee Pride' Sage Sausage in BC? Or slip across the border on a sausage foray? My DD4's best friend has Swedish grandparents and the family will be enjoying plattar next Tuesday. They are very similar to the crepes I make, a bit more flour in the flour:milk ratio.

Waves to Spudlet

It snowed during the afternoon and then stopped, but it's going to snow all night and we'll get a few inches. Snow boots ready for tomorrow.

HelenaJustina · 25/02/2022 08:25

That looks gorgeous Miss what a place to do some work! We’ve all woken up a bit late this morning, but it’s bright and sunny and we’re going for a walk later with friends. Can’t believe the half term is nearly finished.

Silkierabbit · 25/02/2022 08:39

I love Finland and Sweden, would love to go to St Petersburg but maybe leaving that one for a while atm! We used IKEA ligonberry jam instead of cranberry sauce with our Christmas dinner last Christmas.

Got woken up by a proud silkie at 7.30am, she has laid another egg, 15 mins of announcing it. Still that's it for 24 hours. Good job our neighbour loves the chicken borks.

Think will go back to sleep now. 17 year old Silkiecat is so much quieter since chicken started her borking, hardly hear her now.

Nice sunny day here.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/02/2022 10:38

Welcome back spudlet

Another interminable day waiting for my mortgage company to make a decision awaits. Despite my best efforts to graciously swap shifts, I have a 3am finish later which vexes me greatly.

I say that, but I could well be without a car if the garage does not pull their finger out and fix mine pretty sharpish.

So much of my life seems to be waiting for other people to do their jobs at the moment Hmm

Nydj · 25/02/2022 12:07

Welcome back @Spudlet - was wondering how you were just earlier this week. You must have received the vibes Grin.

@MissConductUS, I hope you enjoyed the Japanese meal and your time in sunny Florida. Have a safe trip back home tomorrow.

Well done on avoiding the rain @Prokupatuscrakedatus. You and your DH must be very strong - I hate getting our 50 litre bags of out of the car and through the house - can’t imagine doing a similar load on public transport!

Good luck with the mortgage @Champagneforeveryone

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/02/2022 12:32

Nydj - it is not strength, it is stubornness (and those IKEA carts) Grin

On my way back from getting DS's prescription, I went there:

bobbythevet · 25/02/2022 12:40

What a lovely idea for a thread! Can I join?

Both the babies are asleep. I think I'll
Have a cheese sandwich for lunch.

The white wash has just finished- for some reason this is my favourite load of laundry to do.

Silkierabbit · 25/02/2022 12:57

Welcome Bobbythevet of course you can join. Are you really a vet? Just thinking we could now have a whole range of pet medical issues to add to our medical issues. Grin Though our head nurse MissC is in Florida and we are not at all jealous of the sunny weather or the lovely outdoor swimming pool. Wink

DD is back from school again, says not well again though am sure she will have recovered by tonight, schoolitis strikes again.

Just had poached eggs on toast and koala onesie is on to wash.

I did another Duolingo Russian lesson, had given up but thought they may become useful after all and today's lesson had the handy phrase I want to live я хочу жить. It has been very kind to me and put me in silver league with 2 days to go and highest score is 29 and only 9 people in it and a free streak freeze.

So sleepy this week and done very little except pets, sleeping, emailing, cancer chats though can't really start much before know treatment plan. I am living room floor planning but it involves 2 sofas, 1 DS, 1 silkie, 1 rabbit, 1 DH and playing hunt the carpenter.

MissConductUS · 25/02/2022 13:08

Dinner was nice. The restaurant was on the top floor of the hotel and you could eat on the patio. The pictures are of Disney World off in the distance. You can see fireworks in two of them.

I had Japanese sticky pork ribs and they were fab.

We've had snow at home. I have about an hour to relax before the meetings start.

That sounds amazing MissC and I am not jealous of you being somewhere warm, not at all GrinEnvy

Thanks for the welcome back everyone! Prok I am so impressed at your stubbornness and also wondering if your DH and my DH were separated at birth because I can absolutely imagine him pulling a similar stunt!

I am putting my feet up for a short time before the school run. I did a ploddy 5k this morning but it felt a bit like spring, with the very first blossom on the trees in places and the birds singing. I did have to get over and around some fallen trees but overall not too many. Then I have taken Spudpup to his training class, so now I need to put some clean jeans on because there are muddy paw prints all over mine 😑 Then I need to put DS’s bike into my car because I promised to take it for him. And I need to chop some firewood. But instead I’m sitting on the sofa…

LoveFall · 25/02/2022 18:19

Hi Spudlet

I am new here, only a week or so. It is nice to have you here also.

Thanks everyone for the sausage suggestions. They look really good online, but won't ship here.

Sadly I am in Canada which apparently is more distant (but not exotic) than Timbuktu. We have real issues trying to order from the US. And I ordered some special dog food from England. It came in three packages. One was confiscated at Customs because it had meat in it. Seems a bit overkill as it is canned, but I guess I see the point.

I would love a trip across the border. Grandson and his girlfriend just left for Palm Springs with his Mom. Maybe the Sun will sprout some new math skills brain cells!

We are booked in September for a coastal cruise, vancouver return so no flying. It stops in LA, SF, Santa Barbara, San Diego. We especially like Santa Barbara and have some favourite destinations there as we have done this cruise before. A massive ship full of Mostly Canadians from the west coast.

We loved the Getty Center last time and may go again.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/02/2022 18:40

Lovely Picture @MissConductUS

@bobbythevet welcome yes it is a lovely thread are the babies twins?

DB needs more biopsies as it’s extremely rare what he has. So another long wait.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/02/2022 18:43

Guess what - raining again.

DB and partner have arrived at my sister's - for food, drinks and music They all sing, act, play instruments etc. all talents that have passed me by, only DD has got a share, but she is here writing a module-paper.

I probably get some videos and fotos.

MissConductUS · 25/02/2022 18:52

Welcome, @bobbythevet, and thanks for sharing your infant and laundry news, which are perfect for this thread.

Silkierabbit · 25/02/2022 19:06

Sorry to hear your DB needs more biopsies Lemons Do they think he has cancer? There are so many tests and waiting for results, I think I'm on my 6th wait for test results. Hope its not too long.

Lovely pics MissC

Village supermarket is closed tonight so having a Chinese. Rabbit will be very happy and hassling DS.

HelenaJustina · 25/02/2022 19:25

The walk turned into a hilly 10k but the DC chatted/sang like loons the whole way, and my friend and I could walk just far enough away to pretend they weren’t with us. The cake was good but we got to the cafe in the last 30 minutes before closing so there wasn’t the usual range of choice.

DC1 is doing their half term homework (better now than Sunday night I guess). DC2 has gone to swim training, I need to remember to pick her up as DH dropped her and then went to a community cinema showing of No Time To Die.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/02/2022 19:28

@Silkierabbit I don’t think they’re 100 percent sure what it is but most likely cancer. My DB is terrible though at not telling all the facts.

Chinese sounds lovely.

LoveFall · 25/02/2022 19:35

Silkie, take out Chinese sounds yummy. I am missing Asian food a lot as before the lockdowns we went out for lunch on weekends, usually dim sum or other Asian.

We had to stop of course and the habit has fallen away. We ordered in over Christmas and it was just so expensive!

We have very good Chinese and other Asian food here because we have a huge population of immigrants from various places in Southeast Asia. We are spoiled for choice really.

I really enjoy a dish called Calgary Ginger Beef or just ginger beef. Developed in Calgary to satisfy Canadian tastes. Lovely sticky spicy morsels with a bit of crunch.

Maybe a bit like your spareribs MissC. Lovely photos with the fireworks.

halfpasteleven · 25/02/2022 21:23

First day in ages that it hasn't been wet or windy. We went for a lovely walk.
Both my DP have Covid but they have very mild symptoms thank God, so spent the day doing errands for them.

MissConductUS · 25/02/2022 21:23

The pool is a bit busier this afternoon.

My meetings ended early so I have some time before dinner.

@Silkierabbit not a vet! This is the name of a fantastic character in a CBeebies show my daughter loves.

I'm having a cup of tea and a jammy dodger and it's lovely.
