Girls name -Alba

Hi
Our baby girl is 5 days old and me and my husband love the name Alba. We like that there won’t be 5 in her class, that it’s easy to pronounce and spell- however, when I have said it to people they have said Albie? Or Albert? Or asked me to repeat it… I don’t want to saddle my daughter with a lifetime of it?
Do you think it’s a good name choice ?
Her sister is Willow.

I like it. Alba spanish for dawn, although people say la madrugada but the meaning of alba is dawn.

Aillbhe / Alva is used in Ireland but its not super popular

As mentioned above, in Gaelic it means Scotland, and is pronounce Alapa. Runrig have a song called Alba with it as the chorus if you want to hear that pronunciation.

Nothing to stop you going with other pronunciation as others have said, it's a word/name in other languages too.

Absolutely beautiful. There's a lovely Portuguese actress called Alba Baptista so that's what I think of.

I also thought of budget hi-fis from the 80s but maybe that's an age thing.

I like it, I have only ever heard it in the Time Travellers Wife so I would know it is a female name. Go for it!

Doesn’t Alba make stereo’s? Or used to? I think it’s a pretty name but part of me would wonder why you named your child after an Electronics Manufacturer- it’s also the cheapest one!

I just say "Aww..." in what I hope is a pleasant way, whatever name someone gives their child.

Lovely name, unfortunately now tarnished by being a political party led by a sex pest

I love the name. Was on my list but it's actually really popular where I am. I only noticed this when my DD started nursery school and there are 3 we know of (not all in her class) but in the early years of her school and another we know in the local park

Having read here about some political party in Scotland maybe reconsider if you're very North of England- but if not I'd go for it

I really love the name Alba. I knew of a Spanish family with a daughter called Alba.

Alba is a lovely name and goes well with Willow. I say use it, people will get used to how it sounds.
