Has anyone tested negative to leave isolation early?

My son is on day eight of his isolation and is still testing positive, the only symptom he has had throughout is a temperature on the first evening (which is why we tested in the first place) but still have faint lines coming up on the LFT.

Just wondering really whether there is any chance of coming out of isolation early although now it would only be one day early anyway and also what the logic is that at 10 ten days you are fine even if still testing positive on day 10.

Yes i tested negative 7/8 days after my positive. My son and husband both tested negative early too, son was day 5/6 and husband was day 6/7.

Birdkin · 31/01/2022 16:01

I tested negative on day 5 and 6, which was a surprise as my initial positive was very strong!

Bilingualspingual · 31/01/2022 16:03

Both I and my son tested negative on our respective days 6/7. I did a lot of skooshing of my nose with one of those saline sprays - obviously no idea if that’s what did the trick but you do get a great nose blow afterwards!

DinosApple · 31/01/2022 16:04

DD1 has tested negative on days 6&7 so was back at school on day 7.

Rest of us haven't caught it.

Southlandssue · 31/01/2022 18:35

Oh well, I guess we’ve just been unlucky but wish I could just get him back to school. I am on day six and hoping to get out early but I won’t hold my breath

DS tested negative today on day 5 but he's asymptomatic so not actually sure what day he really is, could be day 14 for all I know.

Wotrewelookinat · 31/01/2022 18:39

My daughter tested negative on day 6.

Camper82 · 31/01/2022 18:43

Dd tested negative days 7/8, I’ve been testing negative since the day my positive pcr came in from friday, so assuming I’ll be ok to leave on Wednesday.

duckme · 31/01/2022 18:44

Yes, my son did. Days 5 and 6. Not one member of staff at work has had negative results before say 10 though...

PaperMonster · 31/01/2022 19:00

Daughter tested neg on days 6/7. I’m still positive on day 9.

dicdicnurse · 31/01/2022 19:06

I'm still positive and I'm day 20 tomorrow! Confused

Itsnotdeep · 31/01/2022 19:09

My dd tested negative on days 5,6 and 7. (she also tested negative on day 0 when the symptoms started). She did 6 days isolation. Was back at school on day 7

RG2468 · 31/01/2022 19:12

Yes DC yesterday 6 and today day 7 so will send back tomorrow. I thought had to be a full 23 hours eg 5/6 then out on 7 or 7/8 and out on 9 etc not 5/6 then out on 6!

Oliack1417 · 31/01/2022 19:13

My husband had his first positive on Monday, and by Friday was testing clear.

marqueses · 31/01/2022 19:15

People at my work and a friend have done less then 10 days, I assume it's pretty common.

marqueses · 31/01/2022 19:18

To answer the second question, it's science not logic that says you can go out after 10 days regardless. Testing positive after that length of time doesn't mean you are infectious, 2 years of real life research has found that to be the case

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 31/01/2022 19:23

Nope. All three of us did the full 10 days and were testing positive to the bitter end.

RozTheSchnoz · 31/01/2022 19:24

On day 10 here and still testing positive. Back to work tomorrow 🤷🏼‍♀️

20week · 31/01/2022 19:32

Those who came out early did the line get gradually fainter or just disappear? I'm day 6/7 and line is still as dark as the control.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 31/01/2022 19:53

I tested negative on day 5 and the same on day 6 so it does happen

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 31/01/2022 19:53

@20week Mine just disappeared

Crunchymum · 31/01/2022 19:55

Yes.

DC1 tested negative on day 5 and day 6 and went back to school on day 7.

We tested as he felt sick and had a headache. That become day zero..

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 31/01/2022 19:56

Yes, I tested negative on days 6 and 7. DD2 on days 5 and 6. DD1 took the full 10 days.

missy111 · 31/01/2022 20:06

Son was never positive on LTF, did a PCR as he had a cough, and usually needs antibiotics for a chest infection, and I knew GP wouldn't see him without having done on!
I am now on day6, and no sign of my lftAngry lines fading
