Do you think this is positive?

Did this lateral flow. Got a bit of a scratchy throat but feel well apart from that.

Left it and thought it was neg. Just went back to finish dinner (20 minutes later) and there is a v v v faint line. I don't know if you'll see it on here.

I'll attach a pic anyway. I've just booked a PCR but I've got a bloody surgery very soon so this will be quite annoying!

Do you think this is positive?

God you can hardly see it in the pic.

Let me know you're thoughts please :)

I'll do another in the morning!

You read it after the time so it doesn't count.

Youaremypenguin · 30/01/2022 19:57

Nope, it's negative

Sorry did I read that wrong?

You read it as negative at the normal time then went back 20 mins later or you read it 20 mins after doing it?

itwasntaparty · 30/01/2022 19:58

No

Arcadia · 30/01/2022 19:58

I've been testing daily due to family cases. We have various types of tests. Couple of mine 'turned' slightly positive after a few hours but I have discounted, as they were past the time limit and further tests were clear. They're nasal ones from a purple and white box. Hasn't happened with the other brands.

cheekychaplin · 30/01/2022 19:58

You don't need a PCR just do another LFT?

MajesticWhine · 30/01/2022 20:01

It looks negative to me

FelicityBob · 30/01/2022 20:02

Looks negative.
Why have you booked a PCR?

MaizeAmaze · 30/01/2022 20:03

Do another one tomorrow morning, and read it at the correct time. Then bin it.

There is a faint fine there, but if you read it way outside the window, you cant rely on it

Fredstheteds · 30/01/2022 20:03

I’ve had a few bleed

Oinkypig · 30/01/2022 20:03

Does anyone else think the tests should be C for covid and T for test? I do t really understand the logic of C for control and T for test???? For any infection not beginning with c T for test would make sense. Anyway I’d do another LFT

MacauliflowerCulkin · 30/01/2022 20:09

I've booked a PCR as I have a sore throat and a banging headache this evening - I help care for my elderly grandfather so just want to rule it out without putting him in danger. He has leukaemia so I don't want to give him anything.

Sorry I may have got it wrong, I thought you had to wait 30 minutes for the result!

Good that the genuine consensus is neg though hopefully I'm just catching DDs cold.

It's a bit more visible in real life but still so faint.
Thanks everyone!

Sore throat is probably the wrong word. It's scratchy but not quite sore yet.

As for headaches - I suffer from them anyway all the time so that's the norm for me!

I'll do another tomorrow and if neg will cancel the PCR

I've had some that said any line that comes up within 30 minutes. Others (we live in Europe) say within 15 minutes.

MaizeAmaze · 30/01/2022 20:17

How long after taking the test did you look at it? And how long do the instructions say to leave it? Sone are 15 mins, some 30. If you read it 20 mins after adding the fluid, it's a positive.
If you read it 20 mins after the time stated to leave the test, its invalid.

mollio · 30/01/2022 20:19

I see a very faint line - do one again and swab your throat this time - really throughly swab your tonsils for ages . Don’t eat or drink anything or brush your teeth before you do ! Headache and scratchy throat sound exactly like omicron . We all have it . V faint lines at first

BabyBird20 · 30/01/2022 20:20

I had a slight headache and scratchy throat for a couple of days with negative lateral flows then got worse overnight and tested positive today! Def worth doing the pcr if you have vulnerable people around/surgery coming up!

dementedpixie · 30/01/2022 20:22

Some tests take 15 minutes and some take 30. You need to go by their individual instructions.

Arcadia · 30/01/2022 20:23

Mine are 10 minutes

Maidsamilking · 30/01/2022 20:26

Go for the PCR, you have symptoms. PCR tests are for people with symptoms.
I know of lots of people who have had negative lateral flows but positive PCRS

dementedpixie · 30/01/2022 20:28

@Arcadia

Mine are 10 minutes
I've never seen 10 minute ones. Are you in the UK?
MacauliflowerCulkin · 30/01/2022 20:33

Sorry to clear it up, I read it 20 minutes after taking it.

Thanks everyone!

OP posts:
Vampy1986 · 30/01/2022 20:37

It looks negative to me; if you waited longer than suggested for checking the result then it is invalid. Also, the dye has run, so it could be faulty test. Redo it.

goingtokickthisweight · 30/01/2022 20:43

We've all got covid here and started just like you. Just swab your throat and do it that's what we did and got stronger positive.
I'd do it now to put your mind at rest
