Ah, there you are little dry pingywings. 🐧🐧🐧

Shiny new thread. I've swept the berg and we're good to go. Hop on.

Morning, nice new thread for us all. I had a fleeting desire for red wine after pilates last night. The fire was on at home and it was cold and starry outside. But I ignored it and had a mug of hot water instead.

HPLikecraft · 28/01/2022 09:34

Ah, I drink hot hot too now @blackteaplease

I had been drinking AF beer and Fever tree tonic of an evening but now I've started the 16:8 diet I can't have the calories Sad

Still, a slice of lemon and ginger in the water is nice.

Hopping on to mark my place.

I’m starting 16:8 soon too @HPLikecraft. Currently reading The Obesity Code by Jason Fung.

I’ll be on the hot water or herbal teas too in the evenings.

HPLikecraft · 28/01/2022 09:45

I started my 16:8 yesterday, @Peridot1
I did OK sticking to the hours, but ate a bastard load of calories during the 8 hour eating window. Going to have to get on top of that!

Hi everyone, happy Friday 😀

FanGirlX · 28/01/2022 10:10

I found two beers and a bit (probably 2 glasses worth) of Baileys last night. Didn't drink it but I am tempted to allow myself either a Baileys or a beer on Tuesday.

Peridot1 · 28/01/2022 10:43

I think that’s probably quite common in the early days @HPLikecraft. It should settle as your system adjusts. I think!

DavetheCat2001 · 28/01/2022 11:14

Place marking too.

Day 28 and I have a day off as won it in our work raffle! Just been for a long run and now lying in the bath feeling smug.

Definitely continuing into Feb as I have no off switch and can easily plow through 2 bottles of wine of an evening.

MH is loads better. Got a 50 th party to go to next weekend so that will be a test for me. Haven't decided if I am going to have a drink or not yet.

CovidForChristmas · 28/01/2022 11:52

Day 28/28 checking 🐧

CovidForChristmas · 28/01/2022 11:53

Checking in!

HPLikecraft · 28/01/2022 12:32

Hopping on to mark my place

I have an image of all these penguins coming along and peeing to mark their places!

Avoid that yellow snow, folks! Smile

That is such a great idea for a work raffle @DavetheCat2001! Were there other work-related prizes to win?

Cherrymix · 28/01/2022 13:41

Checking in. Will post later

TheZeppo · 28/01/2022 14:46

Waves a flipper.

JaquiRussell · 28/01/2022 14:51

Hello, marking in my place. Not heard of the 16:8 anyone care to explain please 🙂
I'm furiously logging my calories into My Fitness Pal. It worked 10 years ago but the Ibs have crept on since have a stone and a half to loose 😩

HPLikecraft · 28/01/2022 15:35

Hi @JaquiRussell the 16:8 diet is a type of intermittent fasting where you can eat for an eight hour period through the day and not during the other 16. I eat between 11am and 7pm.
The evenings are very long!

Ah OK thank you. I can see how it would work if you were a grazer/ snacker potentially. Portions are more my problem though 😳 thank you for sharing though. Best of luck with it 💐

lunklitdays · 28/01/2022 16:37

Checking in. Last weekend!

I'm exhausted today, been a long, busy week. I am very, very glad it's Friday. Nearly fell last night had a horrid, stressful situation which I think if I'd had wine in the house I would have drank it. Grateful I didn't, so nearly there.

Happy sober Friday friends

lunklitdays · 28/01/2022 16:45

Oh I meant to say @NewCherry I've been taking melatonin for around a fortnight, unsure if it helps but the other night I had the most awful night sweats.I looked up the side affects and it is one, apparently you shouldn't take it for more than a week at a time. In my stupidity I hadn't bothered to check up properly about it, I just read it can help you sleep, I assumed as it was 'natural' all would be good. It also gave me a bit of a headache in the mornings.

However I'll still take it for a week next month (as suggested online). My need for decent sleep is very deep. I've been going to the sauna and steam room at our leisure centre once or twice a week, those nights I definitely sleep better. Wishing I had a sauna in my house! I wish I was more confident and could go alone (I go with friends) but I'm just too shy and to date I've only ever seen one other woman there. It's always full of men.

FanGirlX · 28/01/2022 18:07

Good evening all. Friday night is my most challenging night. I'm trying to get in to the habit of going to the gym for a swim, jacuzzi and steam after work, rather than reaching for the wine. My brain is still wired for Friday wine to relax after work though. I wonder how long it will take to rewire my brain as this is my 4th Friday in a row without wine. I think I read somewhere that it takes 3 months to form a new habit.

ColouringPencils · 28/01/2022 18:48

Well done everyone, last Friday in Jan. We can do this! I have an AF beer from Aldi, and instead of buying wine at the supermarket, I bought myself a bunch of flowers instead.
Here, virtual Flowers for us all.

DavetheCat2001 · 28/01/2022 20:49

@ColouringPencils yes it's great isn't it!

I work in a primary school, and I think the head brought it in initially to boost the teachers and staff up after the whole lockdown school/Covid situation.

There is a 10am start you can also win, and from time to time they give away books. At Christmas it was calendars and chocolate Grin

DavetheCat2001 · 28/01/2022 20:52

I'm not really missing booze at all..which is odd because last month I was drinking ALL the booze!

Is anyone else a bit nervous about their first drink after this? In terms of how it is going to make you feel, and if it will be a slippery slope?

Also, my OH has been doing DJ with me and we have been getting on so much better. Less snippy fights and me thinking he's a belled!

Kind of dreading him starting to drink again as he can be a dick (as can I, I'm sure!).

That's a lovely idea. They'll last longer than a bottle of wine too 😀
