Rock DJ- Robbie Williams
Anything by Destiny’s child!

Gabrielle out of reach or Alicia Keys Falling for that horrid last dance in a club as the lights came up.

Graphista · 23/01/2022 01:59

I was a mature student then (which makes me ancient now!) but I still went clubbing with the younger ones (and danced them out )

Tracks I remember are

Girls aloud - sound of the underground, love machine

Tatu - all the things she said

Britney - toxic

Evanescence - bring me to life

Black eyed peas - where is the love, shut up

Christina aguilera - beautiful

White stripes - 7 nation army

The darkness - I believe in a thing called love

Sugababes - push the button

@Plump82 we might have been in the garage around this time together when I was up from uni on holidays! Is the garage still open? It's probably called something else now

@AndrewPeacock and @ToooOldForThis and @Womencanlift
More garage alum!

And my uni club (not in glasgow) also played build me up buttercup at the end of the night most nights - where did that re release come from?!

Ultra beat - pretty green eyes defo

Scissor sisters - I don't feel like dancing, take your mama, filthy/gorgeous... I even didn't mind their version of "comfortably numb" (at this point my floyd fan uncle disowns me! )

Groovejet feat Sophie Ellis bextor - if this ain't love. Also SEB murder on the dance floor etc

Cha cha slide (in an ironic way of course ) taught dd the moves a few years back!

Danger high voltage - electric 6

Mis-teeq - scandalous

Nickelback - rockstar

Maroon 5 - this love, she will be loved (dd came across this as a teen and couldn't understand WHY she knew all the words - it's cos I had the album and played it every day taking her to school! ) but she didn't consciously remember as she was only 4 at the time!

Eric prydz- call on me (and I am old enough to not only know the original but to have been bought it!)

Lmc - take me to the clouds above

The streets - dry your eyes mate (oh fuck I didn't think this was so old!)

Natasha bedingfield - unwritten

Anastacia - left outside alone

Pussycat dolls - don't'cha

Elvia and jxl (nobody saw that one coming!) - a little less conversation

Bodyrockers - I like the way you move

Kelly clarkson - since you been gone

Kaiser chiefs - I predict a riot

Arctic monkeys - I bet you look good on the dance floor

Gnarls Barkley - crazy

Sandi thom - I wish I was a punk rocker (with flowers in my hair) yea I know nonsense

Amy winehouse - rehab

Shakira - hips don't lie

You got the love - Candi staton (which I also danced to the 1st time I went uni!)

Pink - get the party started

A fair few posted by pps are 90's as I was dancing to them before my 2nd pregnancy which was in 1999.

Need to make a Spotify list of these! Excellent chores music!

RJnomore1 · 23/01/2022 02:01

Pretty green eyes
Abd Justin timber lake cry me a river

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 23/01/2022 02:13

Pussycat dolls is the biggest memory for me. I was driving to Asda, about 3am and they played it on the radio for the first time on some obscure radio show
I recorded some of it on my phone and told my then boyfriend it was going to be a massive song. He was yeah whatever
I was very smug Grin

I would have been there better 2000najd roughly 2005 before I started feeling too old! It's still around. I've been to a couple of gigs there and it's exactly the same.
ontana · 23/01/2022 06:03

All of the above

Has anyone mentioned

Ignition by R Kelly?

Amammai · 23/01/2022 06:12

Cha cha slide!
And lots of theme tunes - at student nights in Leeds (2003-2007) they played theme tunes like Round the Twist, Baywatch, Saved by the Bell. Everyone used to go crazy!

Alfixn · 23/01/2022 06:16

All the above!! Plus
Tipsy - Jkwon?
Yeah - Usher

Fluffruff · 23/01/2022 06:33

Wow people have good memories, may have to have a little Spotify session later! All of these plus stuck in the middle with you.

Graphista · 23/01/2022 20:32

I think build me up buttercup was re-released for There’s something about Mary.

Ahhh ok! I've only seen that film once didn't like it

@Plump82 I'd have been there during holiday periods from maybe early 90's to 2007 Ish? Didn't live up here then but would go out with cousins and friends from up here when I was up visiting

@ontana most of us are ignoring r kelly I think! For obvious reasons

@Fluffruff I confess I wiki'd for reminders but posted the ones I remembered and knew I danced to

My memory is shocking these days!

ontana · 23/01/2022 20:38

I know I know, but it was SUCH good song and reminds me of that time. I feel the same conflict when I hear Michael Jackson's songs.

Graphista · 23/01/2022 22:09

I turn off Jackson songs they shouldn't be on the radio imo same goes for a number of other artists work

FurryFerrets33 · 23/01/2022 22:43

Crazy in Love - Beyonce
Place your hands - Reef
Little Less Conversation - JXL
Outcast-Hey Ya

I once had a snog to Eric Prydz - call on me. That man is now my DH.Grin. Good Times.

ontana · 24/01/2022 12:17

Oh really?

I think I have a different perspective on this, as I teach literature including classics and I'm many cases the writers we study weren't very nice people and I suppose we wouldn't know if they have committed horrific crimes like RK and MJ as they were so long ago, but their work still has aesthetic merit.

I can separate the art from the artist

InTheCludgie · 24/01/2022 13:52

Plump82 another Garage regular back in the day, remember House of Pain Jump Around and Laid by James being played every week without fail!

NightmareSlashDelightful · 24/01/2022 14:00

Freemasons remixes of stuff

Might be more mid-2000s actually

FirkleingFree · 24/01/2022 14:07

I've not felt nostalgia for the early 2000s before (much more of a nineties teen) but this has made me rethink! I guess it really was 20 years ago 😩😩

niki26 · 24/01/2022 14:14

Wow - feeling very nostalgic right now!

Avril Lavigne - complicated!

MrsBerthaRochester · 24/01/2022 14:16

Tiffany Think we are alone now. Played at the Garage Glasgow every week and if it wasnt then me and pal would harass the dj! As soon as it came on we would jump up on the stage right beside the speakers and dance like loons. Its still our song.

ADialgaAteMyDog · 24/01/2022 14:19

I touch myself by the divinyls was always played, takes me back!
Baywatch theme always closed the night at the uni nightclub.
I was an indie night kid so it wasn't a good night without babies by pulp and place your hands by reef.

ChandlerIsInYemen · 24/01/2022 14:31

I can't believe these songs are 20 years old! I still remember the lyrics to most of them even though I can barely remember what day of the week it is atm. Brainwashed! I worked in a busy student bar at the time and the play list was pretty much the same thing day in, day out, week in, week out!

Plump82 · 24/01/2022 17:08

Yes! How did i forget that!

Ahh those were the days. Did you go to The Attic up the stairs?
Graphista · 24/01/2022 23:50

@ontana I'm a csa survivor and this is new/recent art it just feels too raw and when the artist is still alive and receiving royalties? Hell no!
