DJ Otzi Hey Baby always reminds me of my first night out in a big city I think in about 2001 aged 16. Loving reading the replies, bringing back memories!

Toxic

Rantypanties · 22/01/2022 22:46

I remember a school disco revival around that time so lots of 80s pop music was on in the clubs but I also remember

Don’t call me Baby (madison Avenue?!)
Family Affair Mary J Blige

Being on constant repeat!!!

Socialcarenope · 22/01/2022 22:54

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers

And Low- Flo Rider
That instantly came in to my head when I read the thread title.

And be faithful by Fatman scoop.

Neither are my music of choice/ taste but are definitely the songs I want clubbing to at uni!

ludocris · 22/01/2022 23:02

La Vida Loca by Ricky Martin
The double whammy of Summer of 69 and Livin on a Prayer
Hips don't lie
Mambo no 5
Bring it back
Jump around
Venga boys
Barbie girl

Admittedly I'm referring to late 90s here too, and some of these songs were already retro even at that point.

NotVictorianHonestly · 22/01/2022 23:04

So many of these! Plus Starry Eyed Surprise. I'm feeling very nostalgic now.

monfuseds · 22/01/2022 23:10

fatman scoop

AvocadoBubbles · 22/01/2022 23:10

Some amazing memories here!
My contributions:
I saw you Crying at the Discotheque
Eve/Gwen Let me Blow ya mind
Hey Baby (Ooh Aah)
Holly Vallance Kiss Kiss
To the window to the wall (to the sweat dripping down my balls Envy)
Lady Marmalade
I’m Slim Shady
Family Affair
Love don’t cost a thing
Gorillaz Clint Eastwood
Hero, Enrique
I could go on all night, love the nostalgia. Amazing memories and times when adulthood was just beginning, first loves, cheap alcohol drank in silly amounts with no alcohol and just generally care free.

AvocadoBubbles · 22/01/2022 23:11

No hangover I meant. A couple of glasses of wine now and I feel it for days.

NoRaceInThisHorse · 22/01/2022 23:23

Mr. Brightside and I gotta feeling were always the ones that got everybody up and dancing!
Then of course you had Rihannon, Usher, Pink, Christina and Britney etc.

Eggsley · 22/01/2022 23:36

Ahh those were the days!!

Loved a bit of Blu Cantrell and Sean Paul with Breathe.
R Kelly - Ignition Remix.

The days when I could get in from a night out at 4am and still be at my 8am lecture. I think we went out every night in my first year at Uni (2002/3). VK Apple for 50p a bottle. Blue Aftershock. Good times!

GrealishHairband · 22/01/2022 23:44

What a timely thread, I heard Black Legend ‘the trouble with me’ on the radio earlier (Kisstory seems to play a lot from this era) and I was immediately transported back to Magaluf in 2000.

So many memories on here!

GrealishHairband · 22/01/2022 23:46

Oh and at a kitchen dance party last weekend we blasted a bit of Ann Lee ‘two times’ which was another tune, That and Toca’s miracle. Which may be a bit early for this thread!

Internetio · 22/01/2022 23:55

I still have a few on my running playlist
DJ sammy;heaven
Alice deejay; better off alone
Ian van Dahl; castles in the sky
The mAdhouse version of like a virgin

UnicornPug · 23/01/2022 00:40

Turn around- phats and small

I’m sure there are others but this is the one stuck indelibly in my mind!

Womencanlift · 23/01/2022 01:05

@Plump82

Kelis - I hate you so much right now. Gomez - Whipping Picadilly The Foundations - Build me up Buttercup. Played at the Garage nightclub in Glasgow near the end of the night every weekend.
So many good nights in The Garage. Always losing at least one member of your group but it didn’t matter as you knew you would find them in either The Noodle Bar or the Canton Express at the end of the night Grin
