Anyone know what this is called?

Daughters boyfriend has asked me to sell some of his things on eBay because I know what I’m doing, have no idea what I’m doing, he just can’t be bothered, but as his stuff is taking up her room, the spare room, and spreading over the stairs, I’m happy to help.

This thing is giving me trouble. It’s a metal folding board, in a plastic case. It’s 45x55cm. There are no other parts to it (ruler etc). It’s quite a substantial thing, so if I knew what to call it, someone might buy it!

Any ideas? He says he can’t remember

I reverse image searched and apparently it’s Canary Wharf.

UltraVividLament · 15/01/2022 13:31

It looks like an adjustable writing rest, except it looks pretty heavy and unwieldy.

UnitedRoad · 15/01/2022 13:36

Canary wharf is it! 😂

Yes it’s quite heavy, and the smallest slope is still quite big, so I don’t think it would be comfortable to write at.

Thank you both for trying

Is it a stand to paint water colours on?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/01/2022 13:38

🤣

Seriously, it does look like a writing slope/ iPad slope thingy. But a heavy unusable one.

But I don't think that's your biggest problem, is it? Why is his stuff leaking all over your house?

How much money is he wasting in stuff he doesn't use or value?

How old is he?

Is any of the money being wasted your DDS?

Sorry. He just sounds lazy, entitled, like a twonk!

tdm1 · 15/01/2022 13:38

Portable gaming laptop stand - solid part is the base, perforated part is to allow the hot laptop some air circulation (I think)

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/01/2022 13:40

Ooh. That makes more sense

pinkyredrose · 15/01/2022 13:41

Why is his stuff in your house?

UnitedRoad · 15/01/2022 13:47

He’s absolutely a lazy entitled twonk. He never has any money, which is why I don’t mind helping - if it was up to him he’d just stay here with all his stuff, but we really don’t want him to. My daughter seems to be paying for everything. They’re 20. She works, he doesn’t.

I googled the writing slope and that’s the most similar thing I’ve seen, although you’d think he’d remember if he’d needed one.

I hadn’t thought of turning it up the other way, but that makes a lot of sense

Eurgh!

I suppose ball you can do is hope she wakes up one morning and wonders what the hell she is doing with her life!

I mean, if it was something she bought and now not only does he not use it but can't remember what he wanted it for... I'd have slap him with a wet kipper.

Good look finding the patience to cope with him and his crap.

😂😂
ENoeuf · 15/01/2022 14:01

I think tdm1 is correct - I was thinking some kind of cooling stand. Has he forgotten 😂 what it is?

WeAreTheHeroes · 15/01/2022 14:03

Ah go on - list it as Canary Wharf 😁

UnitedRoad · 17/01/2022 15:30

I’ve just been asking him about this, and various other bits of crap he thinks will make his fortune. He says he doesn’t know. Why is he farting it about with him then??

Bit of an argument this weekend as my husband discovered loads of his stuff in my order daughters room. Ok she’s left home, but it’s still very much ‘her room’. He won’t listen though, just says older daughter wouldn’t care. She would!

A bit of good news though, other daughter, his girlfriend, admitted that he’s really getting on her nerves. She’s not the most patient, so I really hope she’s going off him. It’s a struggle but I’m trying to stay neutral because if I agree that he’s the most annoying, entitled person I’ve met, I risk her going the other way.

I wrote carting, not farting, but either work

Wow - so this eejit, who isn't even related to you, is parking his shit all over your house, and then when one person (who presumably owns part of the house) says it's not on, he tries to argue?

I'm astonished you've tolerated this thus far.

AffIt · 17/01/2022 15:49

It's a laptop riser, by the way, but sat the other way way up, so that the laptop sits on the metal part and the plastic element sits on the surface top (the serrated metal part is to allow the laptop to cool effectively).

madisonbridges · 17/01/2022 15:51

I'd put HIM on Ebay. 1p including delivery.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/01/2022 15:54

Does he live with you?

MaggieFS · 17/01/2022 15:57

He's that lazy that he can't even be bothered to tell you what it is!!!

Shapiro · 17/01/2022 15:59

Teach him a lesson and flog the stuff but only give him 10% saying they rest is eaten up in post and packing, listing times, admin etc etc

Keep the rest as savings for your daughter.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/01/2022 16:07

Support that DD in understanding that his issues need not be hers

And tell him categorically that he collect all of his crap and stores it in the one rooom. Presumaby the one he actually lives in with your DD. That should speed things up a bit.

How fucking dare he even begin to argue with the owner of the home he presumably lives in, again presumably, for free?

I too am astonished you haven't booted his lazy arse out of your home already!

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 17/01/2022 17:08

Gather all his stuff up, list it as a mystery job lot for a fiver.

What a lazy, entitled little boy he sounds. I too am astonished you’ve put up with this!

MrsMoastyToasty · 17/01/2022 17:32

I hope you are taking the money you make in lieu of rent.

Georgeskitchen · 17/01/2022 18:44

I'm afraid I would give him 24 hours to shift all his crap or it's going to the tip!!
