Party bag ideas. For 40 children

TooMuchSugar22 · 15/01/2022 12:23

I have a party for 40 children for dcs birthday. Mainly aged 3/4 plus some relatives who are 8 to 10. But they would be happy with sweets :)

I got in the sale 30 bubble wands for 10p! Ideal for the younger ones

I don't want all the stuff that's like boubcy balls etc

So thinking do I just get everyone a sweetcone made or maybe like a coloring book and pencils with the bubble wand? And obviously the cake?

Or something like a whistle, mini pens and book, balloon, bouncy ball etc.

Ideally need to keep it at around £ 50 all in as the hire of vanue and food has already exceeded £ 330

I mean ideally I didn't want the stuff like bouncy balls but will if need be. But from experience it's stuff that ends up in the bin.

Would a trip to home bargains be better for stuff?

I wouldn't give a party bag. It's mostly plastic waiting to go straight into landfill. Maybe a bit of cake and some sweets, and a useful little toy or colouring pad?

coodawoodashooda · 15/01/2022 12:26

If you prefer eco you could do some seeds to plant.

SlyAvocado · 15/01/2022 12:26

Please don’t get loads of plastic tat, or balloons. Where do you think they all end up?
cake in there and the bubble wand is more than enough.

Lots of parents just do a colouring book or something now, at least it’s recyclable.

coodawoodashooda · 15/01/2022 12:26

I have done shower gel and bubble bath before

whensmynexthol1day · 15/01/2022 12:28

Please not a whistle. Nothing worse than a hyper/ over tired child post party whistling in your ear for the next half hour. Not to mention the plastic crap to landfill thing. Agree that some sort of colouring is not a bad idea

mooseyem · 15/01/2022 12:28

I printed a few colouring sheets out with 'thank you for coming to xxxx party', saved on paying for a colouring book

Ylvamoon · 15/01/2022 12:31

Just a few Sweets are absolutely fine. If you want to add a toy, maybe go for a kinder egg ...

senua · 15/01/2022 12:34

Get some multi-packs that you can break up into individual pieces eg Haribo or some crayons.

BlueSky8 · 15/01/2022 12:36

Honestly sweets, bubbles, and abit of cake is enough.

Please don't get whistles, the parents won't thank you 😂

TooMuchSugar22 · 15/01/2022 12:44

I know the feeling on whistles my kids often get them. Haha

OK so gonna go with either sweets, cake and bubbles

Or a book -(the works I've been told do 10 for £10) bubbles and cake.

The older ones that are 8, 9 11 and 12 will just do a bag of sweets or something I think..

get a bunch of cake piping bags and fill them like this. I did some of these for my grandmonsters birthday party and they were a hit!

or icecream cones , top dipped in melted chocolate and rolled in hundreds and thousands then filled with sweets and wrapped

Packet of Smarties and a Hot Wheels style car (get 'own brand' from somewhere like Wilko - cheaper).
Even the 12 year old will be happy with that !!

cloudjumper · 15/01/2022 12:54

You can get books in multi-packs for really good prices. Please don't give out the plastic tat, it's just awful.

Apple40 · 15/01/2022 12:56

I see nothing wrong with just giving them all the bubble wand and piece of cake . They don’t know they only cost you 10p

Lovinglifeand · 15/01/2022 13:00

For £4.99, you can get 40 strips of children stickers from amazon.

TooMuchSugar22 · 15/01/2022 13:01

The cars a good idea.

I know the 12 Yr old wouldn't be impressed unfortunately. He's into ' Nike, Nicce and xbox that's it. :(

But thanks you for all the ideas. Just want it simple and make everyone happy

I don’t know any 12 year olds that would think a Wilko ‘hot wheels’ car is a cool thing to get in a party bag!

Much safer to give consumables.

Thesearmsofmine · 15/01/2022 13:11

Just the bubble wand and cake is perfect for the little ones.
For the older ones maybe some American sweets or chocolate (B&M sell loads) or something g that went down really well with my similar aged kids was space food.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 15/01/2022 13:14

I just give out cake, noone wants their kids being handed a load of plastic crap these days!

ReginaFilange001 · 15/01/2022 13:31

The works often do 10 for £10 books or the book people online do as well. This is much nicer to give out and I think more gratefully received than plastic tat type toys. You can even order stickers from eBay to out on the front of the books - a kind of thanks for coming to my party.
Book and cake - sorted.

Legoisthebest · 15/01/2022 13:33

Ok not all 12 year olds Grin.... but I know several who would 'for the nostalgia' would dig out their old cars and have a good fun couple of hours whizzing cars around...
They won't admit this of course....
