Boris' 'family member' has Covid...Carrie, Wilf, or just an excuse

SnoopyLovesLucy · 13/01/2022 10:33

Is it Carrie? Or Wilf? Or is he wanting to avoid questions on the planned trip to Lancashire?

I guess they can excuse him visiting the vaccination centre but he could have safely met people outside …

Compared to other PM’s I don’t think he has been meet with many questioning crowds. One because of Covid and secondly his celeb like status.

AffIt · 13/01/2022 14:43

PM unlikely to be seen in public for a week, says Downing Street, according to the Guardian.

Fuck me, I wouldn't trust that man to tell me the correct time if we were both looking at the same clock.

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 13/01/2022 14:45

@Notonthestairs

"Boris Johnson has cancelled a visit to Lancashire after a family member tested positive for coronavirus. The prime minister will follow official guidance, including taking daily tests and limiting contact with other people, a Downing Street spokesperson said."

Hhmmm.

Presumanbly they mean this bit of the 11 Jan guidance:

(after the bits about when to test)

If your daily LFD test result is negative, it is likely that you were not infectious at the time the test was taken. To further reduce the chance of passing COVID-19 on to others, you are strongly advised:

-to limit close contact with other people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces
- to work from home if you are able to
- in addition to venues where it is a legal requirement, to wear a face covering in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces and where you are in close contact with other people
-to limit contact with anyone who is at higher risk of severe illness if infected with COVID-19
-to follow the guidance on 'how to stay safe and help prevent the spread of COVID-19'

So he faces either accusations of hiding if he follows it, or criticism for breaching guidelines again. One could almost feel sorry for him....

😹😹 I wouldn't either!
ilovesooty · 13/01/2022 15:32

How convenient for him. It's like Napoleon in Animal Farm.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 13/01/2022 15:35

It's clearly a lie. He's hiding - no doubt about it. However, he appears to be slippier than Teflon so unfortunately I think he'll get away with it!

ferneytorro · 13/01/2022 15:37

Perhaps just wanted to get out of visiting Burnley on a miserable January day (disclaimer I am from Burnley that was tongue in cheek). It’s the excuse of the moment isn’t it. It’s not credible I agree as the timing is very serendipitous for him.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 13/01/2022 15:45

I'd DH or I were to test positive but my dc would be expected in school, one of them unvaccinated and unmasked. But Johnson can't possibly go out fully vaccinated and masked?

BiddyPop · 13/01/2022 15:49

Yet he was driven home from HOC last night in a car with 2 officials in masks in front seat and BJ in back with no mask on and leaning forward....pictured on the front of 1 of the papers this morning...

bowlingalleyblues · 13/01/2022 16:00

He should take a lateral flow and get back to work

TimBoothseyes · 13/01/2022 16:19

Well the old cynic in me has this scenario playing in my head.

Johnson to his PR secretary...."waffle, waffle, got to go to Lancaster, waffle waffle, might be a bit tricky after the "work meetings" fiasco, waffle, waffle, need an excuse to cancel"

PR secretary ...."Well Prime Minister there is 1 way we could do it...pick a family member, anyone will do...."

Notonthestairs · 13/01/2022 16:20

I suppose he'll miss PMQ's next week.

tigermummy10 · 13/01/2022 19:16

I don't think he's vaccinated.

Poetrypatty · 13/01/2022 19:19

I suppose he'll miss PMQ's next week

He can turn up by Zoom but that'll be the day his internet goes down Wink

Once you've reached a point where you don't trust the PM to in any way tell the truth, he really really shouldn't be in that job, irrespective of if he's lying over this particular issue or not.

MargaretThursday · 13/01/2022 19:21

There's a higher chance than most dads that one of his children has tested positive by the sheer number of them out there.
The question is if it is one he's actually seen in the last decade.

SockFluffInTheBath · 13/01/2022 19:23

Pants on fire.

Nicely timed story about the Chinese spy funding Commie sympathising lefties to distract while he has a few lie ins and bob’s your uncle he’ll be back as the moral compass of his party in no time.

Rockbird · 13/01/2022 19:25

It's an excuse, lying twat.

AdamRyan · 13/01/2022 20:10

EXACTLY what I thought.
Very light reporting on Cummings links to Russia/Russian interference inBrexit, heavy duty on Chinese spy lady Hmm

llanssannan · 13/01/2022 20:52

With Mr Johnson there are many possible family members, including most of his children, who could have Covid 19, yet have not met him for a very long time. At least one hardly at all.

I suspect it's not someone who resides in Downing Street.

CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 22:43

@userlotsanumbers

Us Lancastrians were waiting and ready. And therein lay the problem. No way would he have risked that, convenience covid it is!
Bide your time 🤣🤣🤣
CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 22:44

Llan good point.

I hope his wife knows who they are.

CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 22:47

The spy thing is bizarre.

MI5 long investigation leaked?

Woman named with pic and all about her? That's pretty... Odd. For a secret services spy situation.
Unless they've got loads of evidence and she's been nicked or whatever that's just totally not... It makes zero sense unless of course LOOK A SQUIRREL!

CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 22:50

'. I bet Boris has a huge headache after yesterday'

Me too. After work 'meetings' at no 10 can regularly result in appalling headaches the next day I've heard. Must be due to concentrating on the complexities of working so hard late into the night.

CheeseMmmm · 13/01/2022 22:51

I've heard sometimes some get so tired they can barely stand.

Poor things.

LuluBlakey1 · 13/01/2022 22:53

He is avoiding contact with the Press, voters and Tory members. He has form for this when he's in the shit.
